Gas Leak Detection with Spot the robot - TotalEnergies

🔍𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁 the robot at the robotics development platform in Lacq (France), operated by TotalEnergies.
Missions performed in 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘀 mode:
✅ Reading of gauges on equipment to ensure proper operation and detect any anomalies.
✅ Detection, location and visualization of gas leaks.
To meet these two challenges we set up different payloads:
👉The Spot CAM+ (360° PTZ camera with a powerful optical zoom) made by Boston Dynamics to read the gauges
👉The Acoustic Imager SV600 made by Fluke Process Instruments used for remote detection of gas leaks
👉 The Rajant Corporation BreadCrumb® ES1 (mesh network) to expand wireless network communication in harsh environment
With Spot, TotalEnergies has successfully detected gas leaks in less than 3 minutes within the testing facility.
For TotalEnergies, this collaboration is part of a project to develop the use of robots like Spot to support remote operations of unmanned and isolated facilities.
The goal: Keep humans away from risk situations and reduce the environmental footprint.
