Chains on chainsaws tend to get dull when you run them against metal pipes, which we could hear and even see sparks.

As far as chainsaws go we have a couple gas ones we use often, my wife got an electric chain saw for Christmas last year! She says every woman that lives on an acreage or farm should have one. And I probably use it as much as she does! Super super handy, highly recommend for light work!

get a pto woodchipper or a skid steer forestry attachment. as for trees ... consider Norway Spruce or Dawn Redwoods. buy them wholesale by the 100 count; use a tractor auger to plant. if you soil is alkaline, consider hazelnuts inoculated with truffle spores

Laura and Grant, please never underestimate the power and dangers of a chainsaw whether electric or gas powered. I’ve been around tree workers for a long time, my son is a professional tree worker and accidents can happen in the blink of an eye. Always use eye and ear protection, wear a helmet not only to protect you for falling wood but also for kickbacks injuries (short bars have more violent kickbacks than larger ones normally) and wear saw pants. Love your channel!

Consider obtaining a battery powered pole chain saw. This will help you remove the higher branches. The one I have is nine feet. It has an optional two-foot extension section for an eleven-foot reach. If possible, find one that uses the same battery as your Milwaukee chain saw. That way, depending on the job you are doing, you will have an extra charged battery available . Say hi to Pepper and Merry Christmas to you and your families.

Milwaukee has a M18 trimmer/bypass cutter/pole saw system. 2825-20ST, 49-16-2719, and 49-16-2720. 3' extension is 49-16-2721. Cause it's M, it's not cheap (duh), but works well.

Welcome back to the Farm. Hope you both enjoyed the trip, learned about the Large farms there. Do you have any snakes there? A cleanup is good, area will look much better and you can recycle all those metal items. I have heard that the best chain saw, prefered by farmers, is the Husqvarna Rancher Chainsaw. Always wear and use Chainsaw safety items, the limb you might save could be Yours!

Hi ! 👋 to Pepper! Good job on your Homestead!! One step at a time.. it's going to be awesome!! Interested the planting of " barrier " trees ..look to evergreens..deciduous trees ," bare " up ,during the winter..No Wind block..maybe an occasional one..every so often..but a "hedge row" of evergreens will work well!! As to a break in cost,Grant, the forestry co-op office/ ctr ,in your area maybe able,or willing to ( provide) the trees...n you plant them..just a thought to look at!!?? Good Holidays to all N a safe n happy new year!! 👍🦊🎅🐺👍

My favorite chainsaw is my Husqvarna 455 Rancher 20”. It has a decompression button for easy starting. I’ve used Poulan, Stihl, and Homelite. The old Homelite with manual oil button was a real brute, but they don’t build them like that anymore. Our Stihl has a tool-less cowl release and tensioner, but the on-off switch is very fragile. The Poulan was good for a while, but became a bear to start.

My 2 bits are usually ignored. : loping sheers can attack small branch’s and twigs. Chainsaws are for wood, any touch of metal on a running saw is as bad as a rock. It’s file time. Nice video

Sounds expensive, but build it buy trailers for the junk to sit on. We had a RR tie trailer, a scrap metal trailer. A barbed wire trailer etc. We had axels from former farm machinery that we used pallet wood to make a flat bed with. The idea is u can hook up to them to move 10 feet this way or that way to mow, take to a neighbors ranch for them to use, or add to, or take metal to town to scrap. Very versatile when on wheels. Something u might want to consider. We even had our fuel tanks on wheels to work both as fuel storage and fuel trailer.

My wife is 62yrs. old and 5ft short and a small framed lady. 2 years ago she went out and bought herself a Stihl chainsaw 18 inch. She will NOT no one else use that saw but her. Once she starts cutting logs down for firewood you best stay out her way... LOL... Only time she stops is when she runs out of gas then it's my job to fill with gas and chain oil and sharpen the chain. While I do that she's splitting logs on HER 23 ton log splitter. Once she starts no one can get her to stop until she's done or the sun goes down... As for me I'm disabled out there with my walker or wheelchair. So I do what I can, sometimes it's just running the controls on the log splitter while she puts the logs on. At least we're doing it together. We split around 10 cords ever fall and use most of it by spring. It's cold up here in Wisconsin... Much love... BBE..

Looks like a great place...for a tornado. Hope if they're in "the alley" (especially) that the first thing they build is a storm shelter. I dated a girl a while back who lived on a wide-open expanse like that, and the wind _never_ stopped blowing. I could open the front door to her place, and the wind would always catch it and try to blow it off the hinges if I wasn't careful. This was quite an abrupt change for me as someone who grew up in the city in a neighborhood with gobs of tall oak trees everywhere as wind breaks. Made spray painting something like a chair outdoors possible. But I made the mistake of trying to spray paint something at her house once and I quickly learned that sort of thing was just not going to be possible.
