I am amazed at the amount of mis-information is set out by people on something like this. I too worked in this area at the time of the blowout. The facility I worked at was less than 7 miles from the well. Amoco knew this was going to be a sour well, end of statement. Although there was "sweet" wells in the same zone not far away from it.

@iloveapich Lodgepole is up near Edmonton kind of. I work up near there often, there's lots of wells up that way.

I was a core hand back then and knew some of the guys working the rig at that time. This was AMACOs fault. Everybody on this rig knew they were working on the edge but AMACO kept pushing the edge with cheap assed drilling practices. The whole thing was whitewashed.

Natural radioactive material is being brought up with the waste water. To be specific, radium 226. According to conservative estimates, the levels found in fracking water are 200 times the normal acceptable limit. Did your employer encourage you to spend your money quickly? You should because you are walking dead men. Time in this case in not on your side. Do the world a favor and don't procreate. We have enough mutations.

I've worked turnarounds at many sweet gas and sour gas facilities. Check for NORM frequently, usually nothing shows up. You're pretty fucking ridiculous with this comment! Nobody in the patch is dying of cancer in droves like they would if you knew what you were talking about. Much production testing also, healthy as a horse. You're a moron, quote frankly.
