What do you do if they want to come in close during first grade. My horse will bend but every time I check his face he moves closer.

You can straighten your arm that is bumping their face towards you and you’ll move that towards their shoulder. If their face is flexed inward because your arm is straightened towards their shoulder, they are not able to move in to close because their shoulder can’t come past their head. Please let me know if that doesn’t make sense :)

Love this training video... I still wonder how to apply it in order to prevent bucking when cantering on the straight line....eg trails, fields? This is when mine tend to buck.

We fix the problem in the beginning with these steps. Bucking is a symptom, not the problem. If your horse is soft and you’re able to control the head control the horse, even the thought of a buck can be shutdown and redirected :)

Hey Lisa! Our lead rope has a loop on it for putting it to the halter. Once we go to tie it up on the saddle, we have saddle stings that we use to tie it up. I will add making this video to our list to show everyone how to do it!

What would you have done if say he had bucked or bolted when you scared him when he was wearing the tarp? Would you have corrected it in some way or just kept scaring him till he quit?

We make sure that they have successfully passed and gotten soft in 1st grade before moving on to 2nd & 3rd. If we can spook them and they drag us or pull us, we go back to 1st grade until we know that we can shut them down and get their attention back on us.

I have a 6 yr old tennessee walker, he did great with the trainer, went to the trainers 3 times he did wonderful, get him home nothing,last week a trainer got his attention in 3 minutes, with the flag ,I get him home nothing,yep he can be a bully,plus he bites,tried everything thanks
