Hi Wayne, just came across your videos for the first time today. What you are doing is amazing, I had never heard of using woodgas to run trucks, I am amazed. I run my 1998 Golf TDI with 50% used vegetable oil without any modifications to the engine or any other parts. Thank you for posting.

O Mr . Wayne great job ! I'm going to work on a way to compress this gas so that you do not need the gasifier on the truck. Have a great day God bless!!
@murmenaattori6 Жыл бұрын
Energy density is the problem. No reason to compress when you can produce it from much much more energy dense solid fuel, which is the main reason gasifiers exist.

Very good comment when u said the embers will burn up 7 hours, so the next start up would not take very much effort as the first one for that day. I was curious how difficult it would be to start the engine again say after a 30 minute sit in the parking lot. Very awesome truck and well done video.

Thank you for sharing these videos Wayne. I'm getting inspired to build my first gasifier. Any problems with build ups in the engine? How many miles would you get off the bit of wood you put in? Are you limited on your top speed?

Hello Cody . Thanks for the comment . 16 pounds of wood = a gallon of gasoline . Power reduction is about 25% Here is a video of my dakota kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6O1nZ-Ye9-ZY9U

Hello Begbucks This truck being used for farm work makes it hard to figure wood mileage but the rule of thumbs are 16 pounds of dry wood = a gallon of gasoline. My dakota trucks get 1.3 miles per pound or over 5,000 miles per cord. Test at Auburn University show a million BTUs of gasoline = 168 miles , A million BTUs of wood = 231 miles

What is the starting procedure later in the day, when you still have embers?

A mechanical fuel pump is a diaphragm pump, There is a rubber sheet inside the pump attached to the rocker arm of the pump. this rubber sheet is pushed back and forth by the rocker arm. A pair of opposing reed valves is what allows the fuel to be drawn in and pushed out. Simply close off the intake side of the pump and it'll expel any fuel left in out, and only draw a vacuum each time the rocker arm is actuated by the cam inside the engine. No harm done. it "may" shorten the life of the pump

look how they attack ! you done rattled up some real hellbilles here! I got your joke
@Fentanyl312 жыл бұрын
OR put the valve on the exhaust side of the pump and it'll simply stop the flow of gas and the rubber diaphragm inside the pump will compensate each stroke, Inside a carburetor, there is a float valve, when the bowl in the carburetor is full it simply stops the flow of fuel, the ball valve will do the same thing. the Pump is designed with exactly that in mind. Mechanic pumps only exert 5 to 6 PSI at most.

Hey Wayne hope you are well my friend. I just learned about gasifier a month ago and am in Love! I like your system and wanna build one to drive an old truck I got. What's the best way to learn how to? Is it from your book or website? Thankss God bless!

Hello Mr. Owens . I see you are now on our web site ( driveonwood ) so you are on the right track . Plenty to read , watch and learn. Thanks Wayne

Elijah Owens I have downloaded the FEMA 90+ page open source PDF for making woodgas during a petroleum emergency. The farm tractor at UC Davis ran on woodgas using commonly available materials like a metal garbage can and 2 quart salad bowl!

Please search KZbin ( gasification, little gasoline , no blowers ) The above video will show the typical procedure if the truck has been operated in the last few hours.

Mr. Kieth Top of the day to U Sir! I have an Older Model chevy 1987 C-30 1 Ton Dulie 350! It has a mechanical fuel pump! I have seen an individual on UTube put a ball valve in his fuel line, so he could start on gas shut the gas off with the ball valve! This makes no since to me with no place to go the mechanical pump will keep on pumpin till Pow goes the line! Electric Fuel Pump makes Better Since, What do you Think? If not please Explaine! Thanx a bunch

It's a oxygen restricted environment, measured air is put in to not the wood flame and burn up, produce more quality fuel

Wayne do you have plans that show the build on the burn part of the Gasifier, and the air supply sourse ?
@waynekeith0111 жыл бұрын
Hello Leon. On our web site ( driveonwood ) and also in our book ( HAVE WOOD WILL TRAVEL ) we have detailed plans , drawings , pictures and videos of the complete construction, but more important and also covered is the operating and maintenance instructions Thanks Wayne

intercoolers will work as long as the channels are wide enough not to clog. I am working on a intercooler chilled by the air conditioner to lower the gas heat to be cooler than the ambient temp therefore making the gas more dense and more powerfull.
@walkertongdee11 жыл бұрын
I am making something along the lines of the youtube video "What Is An Intercooler And How Does It Work" except in a v formation for drainage.

What is the purpose of those vertical tubes around the outside perimeter of the hopper
@waynekeith012 жыл бұрын
Hello Henri. These tubes work as a radiator and helps remove and drain off condensation from the fuel hopper .

@@waynekeith01 are there some kind of condensate lip or trap within the hopper? Where does drain to..your tar collector
@waynekeith012 жыл бұрын
@@772777777777777 There is a gutter system inside the the fuel hopper that drains into a collection tank along with any tare . These can be drain while on the fly controlled from the cab.
