One Question: In the 3 version I was able to edit the data (indicators). Now with the 4 version there is no option to edit the data, right?

Hi Sir, IF there are outliers in our data how to detect those in Smart pls and secondly do these outliars effect our analysis. and thirdly how to we get to know that our data is normal or not ? through Skewness and Kurtosis
@Gaskination2 жыл бұрын
Univariate outliers can be checked by looking at the observed minimum and maximum when viewing the indicator summary table: kzbin.info/www/bejne/amTPe3RrgN-Dbbs The outliers can effect your analysis, although PLS is less affected than maximum likelihood. Yes, normality can be assessed by looking at the skewness and kurtosis (click on the column header to sort).

Hi Prof, im not sure why i cant select my smartpls file. is it because im opening the file now? The error i got is, to select an empty folder, or an existing smartpls 4 file
@Gaskination2 жыл бұрын
If it is already open in SmartPLS 3, I would recommend closing SmartPLS 3 before trying to open it in SmartPLS 4. If that is not the concern, then I'm not sure I understand the situation.

Dr Gaskin, I am working on an experiment with 1 independent categorical variable, 1 moderator 3 categories, all other variables are on likert scale 7 point items. I am not able to find the right videos please could you help
@Gaskination Жыл бұрын
I would recommend something other than SEM if you're working with all categorical variables.
@harinderhari7689 Жыл бұрын
@@Gaskination Thank you Dr Gaskin for your reply, but only the independent variables (voice vs text) are categorical, but the other dependent variables, mediator are 3-item questions measured on a 7-point Likert scale.
@Gaskination Жыл бұрын
@@harinderhari7689 Oh. Sorry for the misunderstanding. If the independent variable is binary, then SEM is still fine. Just do not include the IV in the measurement models. Bring the IV into the structural model afterward.

Hi Prof.I have panel data for 70 countries from 2013-2019. How to import the panel data into smartpls4 for a more in-depth analysis? please could you help.
@Gaskination Жыл бұрын
As long as you have 'country' as a column to indicate which country the row is from, then you're good to go. If you want to use country as a grouping variable, then you might want to reduce the country variable to a few of the major regions so that each group has more data in it. You'll probably want a minimum of about 45 rows of data per group (this depends on the complexity of your model though).

@@Gaskination Thank you Pro. I'm not sure I understand. Can I directly import long format panel data or wide format panel data when creating a PLS-SEM model using Smartpls? If I am importing long format panel data do I need to group the data by country, i.e. 70 groups? If wide format data is imported, a latent variable is measured by 3 observed variables. Do I need to connect the data of these 3 observed variables for each year of 2013-2019, i.e., 21 observed variables, directly to the latent variables?Looking forward to your reply.

@@kingqueen-q3q Oh, I think I misunderstood your use of "panel". I'm also not sure what is meant by long and wide format. But it sounds like you're talking about longitudinal (multiple time points) data. If that is the case, then SmartPLS probably isn't the best choice for analysis unless you want to collapse your time variables into a "change" variable (end-start). SmartPLS does not handle longitudinal analyses.

@@Gaskination Thank you very much, Pro,your answer is very important to me.The case is longitudinal (multiple time points) data. I refer to "Driving forces of national and regional CO2 emissions in China combined IPAT-E and PLS-SEM model". The paper chose panel data for 30 provinces in China over the period of 2001-2016. "The impact of technological and social capabilities on innovation performance: a technological catch-up perspective" investigated the effects of the factors on the outputs in seventy countries during 2013-2019. They use smartpls to achieve PLS-SEM model,which confused me.I may not have fully understood their approach.Do you know the method that can implement PLS-SEM model of longitudinal data? Thank you again.
