Gaston Ramirez is an attacking midfielder currently playing for Bolonga, He is from Uruguay. He has been recently linked with Liverpool following the failure the sign Gylfi Sigurdsson from Hoffenhiem. They are both similar players and offer not only goals but assists as well. Could this be Brenden Rodgers first signing?

I do - he's a big lad with decent movement and a better than fair shot on him. He scored for fun when he played as a second striker (albeit at Blackpool on his loan stint). He may lack a bit in pace but the marauding runs he's starting to show a fondness for are more useful up front than in a disciplined Rodger's style 4-3-3. It's worth a thought at least.

Hope this signing goes through. Can't understand all the people saying he must be mad going to Southampton though. Would he be better off sitting on the bench at LFC or Spurs? At Saints he'll get guaranteed playing time to develop as a player and make a name for himself in the EPL which is a smart move. Saints are an ambitious club too. They've spent an awful lot on the infrastructure of the club and have some good young talent coming through.

We're still short a line-leading striker in Rodgers style. Suarez to create and score the spectacular, Borini to do the running and mop up the tap-ins, we still need a consistent goal threat up front. It depends what you mean by 'on the wing'. If you mean as a traditional winger in a 4-4-2 or a 4-2-3-1, then you'd be correct. If as the right or left forward in a front 3, then that is definitely a possibility.

I would prefer Adam Johnson. If we managed to sign Gaston Ramirez I would hope to sell or loan Downing and buy Adam Johnson because his ability to go past players is similar to Suarez. There is no doubt that Suarez was our most potent attacking force last season even if he didn't get as many goals as his opportunities to score should have led to.

That was before Inter entered the fray. After Inter losing out on Lucas to the PSG billions Inter are being very aggressive on acquiring Ramirez who has always been their plan B should Lucas not arrive (Ramirez has also stated he would jump at the chance to play for Inter). I doubt the friendship with Suarez will be enough to lure Ramirez to LFC over the better contract that Inter will offer him, add to that the certainty that Inter will easily outbid LFC should a bidding war ensue.

We will not play 4-4-2 nor 4-4-1-1 under Rodgers. We will either play a proper 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1. Whichever formation it is, Rodgers will want three midfielders in the middle so that our possession-based football can flourish.

Saints are no Leicester or west ham. They don't just buy everyone that comes on the market. He must be a good player for them to spend that much money. We will see how good soon enough if he definitely signs for us.
