For context, after Liz told her about the rape, when Audrey left the room, she broke down and cried. Audrey was trying to put on a brave face for Liz.

Liz looks incredible

Maybe having gone through it herself, it was hard for Audrey to know what to say or do as it brought up the memories for her? Also, perhaps because SHE ALSO got over it, she is trying to show Liz that things WILL get better!

I didn’t know that Audrey had it to happen to her too. 😢

Audrey is of a different generation and is reacting appropriately for how she was brought up to think.
@kithobson548 Жыл бұрын
Yes, her generation was we don't talk about it. Women back then were seen not heard in a house hold as well. Gossip was a no no then too. When she was growing up. They did not talk about private things as mentally disabled people in families or sexual preferences or rape and or addiction and abuse.

I started watching general hospital and it crazy she is my age. I was floored when I found out her age in real life when I was 15 I was no way she is a great actress.

I was raped by a youth leader. I was 13 and male. The dirt and shame that comes with it. the guilt. I live with daily by reminders. But the love of friends and support of family and talking to a therapist are what keeps me going. I don't play victim I play survivor I have endured a lot in that time. But, I am stronger than I think I am.

I was molested for 7yrs as a child from age 7-14. I understand your pain. From one survivor to another, never let this define you and your entire life. I wish you the best in life Kit.

Audrey was in total denial.

Unfortunately, that's how they dealt with these types of things in her day.

Wow, I get that Audrey comes from an older generation and has an abusive background...but what a horrible way to handle that type of situation. I never liked how the show made Liz seem obligated to Lucky because he 'saved' her but watching this storyline now I'm glad she had the support of the Spencers.

***** I haven't watched the scene since I first commented but from what I remember Audrey seemed to not want to fully acknowledged what happened to Elizabeth. Yes Elizabeth, something terrible happened to you but put it out of your mind and forget about it. I feel like its a relatively common approach that a lot of people have and I think its one of the reasons a lot of rape victims don't report their rape. Yes she was caring and nuturing. Personally I liked Bobbie's approach. She was caring but she also told Elizabeth about the options she could do and suggested she speak with someone without pushing or forcing her to face what happened. I just think its better in the long run to acknowledge that you've had a terrible experience and try to heal from it then to try to put it to the back if your mind and forget it ever happened. I think I read that Sarah actually confronts Audrey about this later on

***** np. Its a heavy topic that people have different opinions. Nothing wrong with stating yours

She was raped by her husband Tom Baldwin and dealt with it by denial. Hence her reaction to Liz's news.

dovasi I know and I understand. Still don't agree with the approach.

She wasn't "obligated" to him, she felt safe with him and knew he wouldn't let her down.

Rachel Ames (Audrey) is a wonderful actress and this show did not do right by her.All they ever do is get rid of the older actors and then realize they made a mistake. Then the idiots bring them back as "ghosts" of all things. I stopped watching when they killed Alan.

I love Audrey she was the longest contract actress on ABC daytime I wish they would still show here once in a while but she is over 90 now I imagine it may not be easy for her to work anymore
@tonyhassan71173 жыл бұрын
No Audrey Hardy is only 84 years old that evil producer Jill Darren Phillips fire her in 2007 she take her contract out and refused to let her work and Felicia Jones to Audrey would have celebrated 58 years with the show

Audrey has to be the least likeable soap character, or tv character in general, to have lasted over forty years on a show. Strange.
