I agree with you regarding qualifying GATE DA will be a proof of solid background in math and probability concepts , but all these are theoretical. Companies don't care about you knowing how or what a neural ntwk computes to or how the activation function is applied to weighted sum of inputs. They care about practical aspects of things i.e sklearn,tensorflow and most importantly with advent of LLMs MLops. Still there is no harm in giving the exam , but don't expect this to improve your job prospects.

Don't forget there are Btech IIT' ians who are equally talented as you if not more. How are you supposed to crack 20LPA+ jobs with only theory knowledge and no good personal projects on your resume ? Growup man look around you.

Hahahaha, you just told me you are a fresher. It's the other way around. It's much easier to implement neural networks on Tensorflow/Pytorch as compared to actually learning the math behind it. And in interviews, the core math portion is asked more. Though the practical part is important, mathematics will separate you from the masses. -An Ai ML engineer in product based company
