In this video i will discuss about Hammett equation which is a basic and important concept of organic chemistry.
The Hammett equation in organic chemistry describes a linear free-energy relationship relating reaction rates and equilibrium constants for many reactions involving benzoic acid derivatives with meta- and para-substituents to each other with just two parameters: - a substituent constant and a reaction constant.

Hammette equation is log of ratio of dissociation constant without substituent to dissociation constant with substituent is equal to product of, (σ) value of effect of substituent on reaction and (ρ)value of extent of influence created by the effect of substituent on reaction(σ). Sir Douts In case of solvayis reaction OCH3 is important role and p value it should be negative.but in case of benzoic acid.. More positive p value is SN1 More negative P value is SN2 ? I am crct sir
