I could infer from the video that it’s mindset which takes you to places plus clarity on path, if you have wrong map, all your efforts will be wasted in bringing you to a wrong place.

Yes, you can easily get a PhD in University like Purdue, TAMU, Penn State etc if your profile is good enough. But in IIT, it completely depends on the interview [ interview is purely based on the technical Q ]

Few points I don't agree with: 1. 3 years PhD in EU: Yes, this happens in few UK and German programs where the grant is limited. But other countries have fat salaries, low administrative duties with at least 4 yrs of guaranteed salary. 2. Immigration: People flock to US for immigration and avoid the uncertainty of being marginalized due to a big Indian community in US. Indians who go to foreign countries, usually tend to hangout with Indians only. 3. Stipend: The PhD stipends in US are piss poor. Even with a fellowship. In Europe, you earn the same salary as an industry level Engineer. Plus the benefits of an employee. That includes healthcare, pension and bonuses. 4. Timeline: It is shitty to do a lot of coursework in the US even if you have a Master's. It is a waste of almost 2 years. That makes it at least a 6 year program. Good luck living in an almost miserable state into your early 30s. EU has significantly increased the budget of research spending over the years. You will earn a lot more in some special grants such as ERASMUS and MSCA-ITN fellowships. They pay filthy money to PhDs.
