GateKeeper is a steel roller coaster located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, United States. Designed by Bolliger & Mabillard (B&M), it is the fifth Wing Coaster model in the world. The ride opened on May 11, 2013, on the most successful opening weekend in the park's history. GateKeeper featured the highest inversion in the world when it opened, with its 170-foot (52 m) Wing Over drop. It has broken several Wing Coaster records, including those for height, speed, track length, drop height and the number of inversions. The coaster has a 170 ft (52 m), 40 degree inclined lift hill with a 164 ft (50 m) drop, and features two keyhole towers that the trains travel through. It has a top speed of about 67 mph (108 km/h).
Construction began in September 2012 and took about eight months to complete. A new entrance plaza for the park was built, with the keyhole towers as the centerpiece. GateKeeper replaced Disaster Transport and Space Spiral, which were demolished during the summer of 2012, bringing Cedar Point back to 16 roller coasters. It was the first new roller coaster at Cedar Point since Maverick debuted in 2007, and the third B&M coaster in the park following Raptor (1994) and Mantis (1996, now Rougarou). In 2013, GateKeeper was the most frequently-ridden roller coaster at Cedar Point, and it ranked 28th among steel roller coasters in the annual Golden Ticket Awards poll from Amusement Today.

I LOVED this ride! This was actually my number one in this park. The drop did not take my stomach away and it was so smooth it felt like I was flying. I love coasters that go upside down so I loved this. I also loved how it was a longer ride.

This ride is so underrated! It is always walk-on even when the park is crowded. Then again it probably has something to do with Valravn, haha. Actually now that I think about it, TTD and MF are also pretty much walk-on. I had gotten on Dragster a few times in a row in under 30 minutes last few times I went to the park. Everyone goes to Valravn now!

I LOVE THIS RIDE. it is soooo smooth and fun, not extremely thrilling but it definitely feels like you are flying. I would totally recommend, even to people who are scared of rollercoasters because it is not too fast or intense. Probably my fav ride at the park

Just rode this coaster for the first time yesterday and loved it. Actually liked it more than the new Valravn. This is probably the 3rd best ride at Cedar Point behind Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster. Awesome stuff....

Hahahahaha...I went on this ride the year it first opened. I felt like I was close to a heart attack and swore never to ride again. To make things worse, another rider suffered a heart attack and we were forced to wait on the tracks and then provide witness accounts in the event of a lawsuit. I left feeling that the Gatekeeper was the devil incarnate. Now, watching this, I'm thinking...what was the big deal? 😁! Thanks for uploading.

Since the heartlines are skewed to the sides of the track, adding intense elements that depend on following heartlines is rather difficult to do without sacrificing rider comfort. So if you're wanting to see a wing coaster that's paced like Nemesis or Montu, it isn't gonna happen.

Basically, snappy elements need to be centered around the riders to keep them from being too aggressive or uncomfortable. Because the riders are off to the sides of the track, intense elements can't be centered around them properly.

I rode this for the first time last month after not being to the park in almost 2 years, the last time being when they were building Gatekeeper. First time on Gatekeeper, first ride of the day. Half way up the lift hill the ride gets stopped because some chick pulled out her phone..

This coaster is absolutely awesome!!! in a FEW ways this coaster is better than Banshee and the reason for that is... Better Obstacles It's right next to Lake Erie It has a better color than Banshee it has a better drop than Banshee but both are great and Banshee has it's perks over Gatekeeper to.

I do agree that it has a beautiful view, but I just like Banshee better. Banshee's a bit more extreme because I usually don't feel the drop AT ALL on the Gatekeeper. :( No matter where I sit
