This back 9 from Eagle is one of the sickest things I've ever seen. Such a tough 9 holes.

he was an absolute beast on this B9. He made it look like an easy course when it is anything but that.

31:10 eagle throws low ceiling from a knee with the slowest most effortless flick that takes a giant magical skip to end up parked on a tricky green next to water. Just a thing of beauty! This shot epitomizes what is Disc golf..
I feel bad for Austin. He was doing so well, keeping up with Eagle. A few unlucky shots and it seemed to break him mentally. Keep your head up buddy!

Man that was awesome coverage. I hated seeing the trouble others were having on the card. These people getting double bogies are so much better than me it actually seems hopeless for me to think I'll get good enough to be in a top 100 pro finish with courses being designed to be so hard only the top of the top pros can even think of birdie. So I'll just keep having fun and I'll keep watching the pros leave the rest behind.

Incredible b9 from Eagle! If I only had a disc for him to sign 😞 I did find Simon to sign my tilt haha
@barrymak4213 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would be happy to even find a Tilt to buy, but yeah signature discs from any of the big pros are impossible to find right now. I mean you cant even find a DD3 let alone a Cloudbreaker, the Splice is just as hard to find.

I'm not sure why everyone is so surprised the top players are shredding this course. Nearly all these 'greens' are wide open 60' in all directions and the top level players will eat that up all day Edit: I stand corrected. The back nine has a stretch of water threatening approach shots; as Frozty points out. I would still argue it's very very open for a top tier pro course. I play at local courses that are definitely NOT pro tier level courses and many have pins with water within 30 ft. without the completely open approaches, or very wooded approaches with death putt cliffs within the circle.
@Frozty3 жыл бұрын
...What? Just in this back 9 video alone: 12, 13, 14, 15, and 17 all have water/OB either within the circle, or very near it.
@barrymak4213 жыл бұрын
I don't know about shredding... Eagle had a really good round to shoot 13 down, and Ricky and Paul were -11, and -10 respectivly. Only birding just over 1/2 the holes with how good those 3 are shows how stupid hard this course is. I mean Barsby is no slouch and he only managed to shoot even.

@@barrymak421 It seems a lot of the difficulty is coming for pure distance, which is fair at pro level, but it's not as interesting to watch, in my humble opinion.
@barrymak4213 жыл бұрын
@@DanielMinottoII Yeah I mean that's fair about the distance, but the number of shot shapes that are needed for this course is crazy. Big hyzers and flips, rollers, anni's and multiple lines on many holes. You are completely entitled to your opinion, but I don't know what else you can want from a course. Please do not take this as an attack. I genuinely would like to know what else you could like to see. Any course that can hold 97% of the field out of double digits under par i think is an amazing course. We have a new generation of disc golfers where 450 of the tee is a dead arm,(that is so crazy to say lol) and courses are going to have to start adapting to it. This course is just the beginning.
@DanielMinottoII3 жыл бұрын
@@barrymak421 Yeah, you have a good point. It's not like some other ball courses where it's just power bombs every hole to the green. I watched the interview with the designer and it's apparent he expected a lot more wind than what they're playing in, which would definitely increase the difficulty. Also, he didn't want the course to be super punishing on mistakes but instead make it harder to score, which he seems to have accomplished as well. At a local level, the "park" courses as we call them (lots of mature trees with mowed grass everywhere) are popular because they are more forgiving. From a spectators view on screen (which I image most people here are not watching it in person) it just looks like it favors those power arms who can muscle it up the wide and forgiving fairway for a long putt. You asked what what I would like to see (and I realize it really doesn't matter what I'd like to see, but hey, its the internet), I personally enjoy watching the more wooded technical courses. There seems to be no shortage of amazing courses in this country with interesting and beautiful layouts that are not set in an open and flat parkways. I'd just hate to see the pro tour pass those on by and keep adding events at ball golf courses that don't even shut down the week of the event and still have people playing golf right up until the day of. Instead of these temporary courses at locations that don't really even care about disc golfers generally, why not support the dedicated disc golf courses that are often kept up and running by donations and volunteers year around? Edit: I just want to make clear, I am in no way saying the designer did a poor job here. I think he did an excellent job with that location. My issue isn't with the design, it's with the location. It's seems obvious he had tons of open space and had to find the little niches and nooks to keep it interesting, and add a crazy distance to keep it challenging.

@Davidb01233 жыл бұрын
braindead hyzers should not be a word used in discgolf commentary! great job otherwise
@barrymak4213 жыл бұрын
Why is that? It is by far the most accurate shot in the game, and if the course allows you to throw a whole bunch of them you can bet the numbers are going to be really really low, almost "braindead". When playing ball golf courses that's typically what you get, just wide open air where you can spike it close. I think this course designer did a great job forcing players to choose technical lines on a ball golf course, and it shows with the scores.
@Davidb01233 жыл бұрын
@@barrymak421 yeah, i agree. But braindead makes it sound like anyone can do it. Or if there is something bad about throwing hyzers. Im all for courses that demand all kinds of shots, i just didn't like the wording, thats all.
