I think becuase the upside down is stuck in time, the night Will went missing. They hint several times that Vecna can control time. I wouldn't be surprised when Vecna is defeated, everything will warp back to the night Will went missing. Everyone is young again, as if it never happened. However, they carry all the memories of what happened. So little max, wakes up in California, Billy still alive. They both finally form the brother sister friendship they both needed. Eleven is rescued by hop, Bob is hyperventilating in his bed, wondering if it was just a bad nightmare. Ect. Ect. That's my theory. And I'd honestly love it...

​@@Tara-km2sc this is honestly a really great theory, like it would make a satisfying end to the show. ❤ Though the 1 thing I'd say is that Vecna can't rly control time- he does say that he refused to experience life like the rest of humanity bc of the birth-work-procreate-death process. That's why he won't live defined by time, and why he fixates on the clock. But honestly the only freaky time stuff that happens is the upside down being frozen in time according to when the gate was opened. So it's more interdimensional laws of physics than 001's own power. :)

Max wasn't killed off. She is hardly alive, but I suspect that she will return. Barb and Max' brother-in-law (Billy) were killed off, but Barb was introduced with the other characters, and Billy was killed after a full arc. He kind of had to be to connect Vecna to Max. Eddie follows that pattern...though, I'd argue his introduction and death served as commentary on high school life and how "outsiders" are often treated.

Duffer brothers are playing it safe, they aren't killing any main characters because they have seen how killing a main character is sometimes not the best idea, an example is Glenn from TWD, killing him made 25% of the audience stop watching so the duffer brothers are most likely not going to kill any main character. @@cal-un8bd But deaths are a part of plots and characters, and there are many examples of movies where the deaths of protagonists or supporting characters really serve the story. Examples: King Leonidas in 300; Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame; Maximus in Gladiator; Captain Miller in Saving Private Ryan; John Coffey in The Green Mile Avengers is a great example because it's still a running movie franchise with established and popular characters. At least 3 major characters died that I can think, seemingly permanently, during the span of Infinity War and Endgame and they served to show just how high the stakes were in the conflict. It wouldn't have been as emotional or satisfying when they actually won in Endgame if it wasn't for the losses they endured.

With certain horror stories, it really depends on the circumstances. Some horror stories benefit from very minimal deaths as some situations don't exactly require a majority of characters to up and die in order for a story to push forward.

Main characters are not main characters because we want them to be, it’s because they’re survivors. The show wouldn’t follow the story of the girl who died, that’s why we didn’t have a full season around Barb. They’re gonna follow the story of those who lived. It does make sense for them to live because of that. You don’t need to kill off main characters to make audience feel the story, you need people invested in them for their highs and lows.

When Glenn died from TWD, a lot of people couldn’t watch anymore from the sheer emotional attachment they had to the character surviving multiple close encounters just to die from another’s mistake. So I can understand why they don’t want to kill anyone yet, but it needs to be Eleven.

The issue with not killing off any main characters is that it left several of them to do almost nothing of worth in the third and fourth seasons. Mike, Will, and Johnathan basically just screw around for the majority of Season 4, and then sit beside Eleven and give her moral support for the whole finale. There are clearly characters that the writers are struggling to include in their story going forward, and death is one of several ways to deal with that trouble. The obvious deaths to write would be Steve or Johnathan, as it would 'resolve' their love triangle with Nancy. But honestly, I think it'd be more interesting if they killed off Nancy, then forcing the two boys to confront their issues and dependence on her, as well as directly affecting Mike.

I don't think he needs to die, if anyone is going to die it's Eleven, she's gonna use all her power to close the portal! I do have to say though that I'm so glad the Duffer brothers not only gave Gaten a chance but a reason to embrace his true self! I think he's such a cute kid and I love that he's got a different look and he's a really really great actor, I'm so glad the Stranger Things kids are growing and doing other projects and I can't wait to see where he goes in his career! Dustin has been top 3 favorite characters since the very first episode because Gaten just has a way of stealing your heart! But I do love his reasoning, he clearly wants a death in the show to push himself and his acting and I love that for him, for that reason I almost hope he does get that opportunity but I hope he's wrong too 😅

Bruh the death of Quinn's character hurt so bad for the fanbase. Dude had one of the sickest and memorable scenes ever and when he died, we all felt like Gatens character at the end of season 4.

I live in the town where the Stranger Things house is. It's in Georgia and used to be a bed and breakfast. Now it just sits empty but it's listed as a historical house because of the age and architecture. You can drive by and usually see people in front on the steps off the sidewalk taking selfies.
