Your car is multi-national, the United Nations would be proud. I have a '01 TT 225 Quattro, bought it new 20 years ago. I replaced my timing belt and related components last summer, 69 thousand Kms, replaced it based more on age than use. The car sits in storage more than it gets used, and has never been winter driven. It's the 2nd timing belt I put on this car, the original was changed out at 44 thousand Kms back in 2009, all parts straight from Audi. Anyhow, this time around I used a Continental kit. The water pump was stamped "Bugatti Made in Italy" and looked pretty much identical to your WP, with the same metal impeller. It hasn't seen much use yet, only a few hundred Kms so far, I'm crossing my fingers, hoping the Italians did a good job.

I just had a Gates Blue T belt installed in my 99 Camry.I plan on going 100K on it unless I get a bearing issue earlier. I had all the same fears about Chinese parts in the kits, so I bought everything individually, all Japanese or USA. Be leery of eBay. Many 2nd quality parts are on there to be laundered.

Installed gates rpm timing belt on Ford Zetec 2.0 SVT Focus. New OEM idler started making whining noise.

I’m not that familiar with the SVT setup. But can’t understand why the belt would cause a idler failure. I did notice when installing the belt was a little thicker than the OEM contech and caused the hydraulic tensioner to be a little more compressed. It’s possible that on your engine it might have put more tension on the idler. So far I haven’t had any issues with the Audi 1.8 T.

I had a new Gates belt installed on my volvo, also bunch of fuzzy lint on the edges, does not look great, company rep. said it's normal. I will choose different product next time...

Those racing and Kevlar timing belts are noisy. I had one on my 3000gt vr4 for 7 days before the noise became embarrassing and I pulled it off and replaced it with a genuine oem Mitsubishi belt. And it’s been oem every 60k since then.

Have had it on the Audi for about 10k no noticeable noise at all. Possibly didn’t have something installed properly.

Ray McGoldrick no it’s something about my car type that gives it kinda like a hamster running in the wheel noise. A bunch of guys in my car club had the same noise. But I should have mentioned that it was a “Power Enterprise” Kevlar timing belt that was making the noise. Not the gates belt that you have here. I’m due for another belt (my 5 years is up). I’m gunna try the gates racing belt with all my other timing components genuine Mitsubishi. Sorry for the mixup. Both belts are blue.

Did you end up using the Chinese water pump?

Yes. It’s been in there around 10K now. No problems except running a little hotter than it has in the past at times. I’m not sure it’s moving as much coolant probably due to the extra “fins” on the inlet of the impeller. So far no real issues though.

I just bought by a gates kit for my Audi A4. Mine is an AEB code 1.8t. So the water pump is driven off an accessory belt not timing belt. The only Chinese part is my kit (tck 317) I received is the tensioner. It's stamped gates, and made in China. Not real happy about it, but screw it. I'm Gonna send it! I went with standard timing belt. I had a friend with a mk4 GTI, and his blue racing belt made some weird noises on a Cold start so it turned me off.

We coated the belt blue, cause race car 😂😂😂🤫🤫🤫
