What I learned in this lecture: 4 types of testing - Unit, Integration, System and Regression Unit testing is done in the coding phase Integration and System testing are done in the testing phase Regression testing is don in the Manteinance phase Unit testing is when we test a small chunk of code for example a function. It can be either black box - abstract, or white box - we design our own test cases Integration testing is testing units together or whole modules. Thre are 4 types Bang Bang, Top down, Bottom up and mixed System testing is testing the whole software together. Imagine a building. Unit testing is testing the rooms of the bulding, Integration testing is testing the floors and system testing is testing the whole building. System testing is split in two categories: 1. based on who is testing it. This has 3 sub categories - Alpha testing - the team who made the software tests it - Beta testing - a friendly customer tests the software - Acceptance testing - the actual customer decides whether to accept the software or nit 2. Performance/ non functional testing(all other testing types are functional). This means for example we test what is giong to happen when 1,000,000 users are using our website. If it crashes how long will it take for us to fix it and so on. Finally Regression testing is done in the mantenance phase. Here we test after the user already has the software to use what is going to happen when we update the software
