It's always nice to see Mr. Mallozzi on. The backstory behind how casting goes and those kinds of details shows just how loose a writer has to work with what happens, especially when you don't know if there will be a next season. lol

Man I always felt that the Ori storyline needed one to two extra seasons for it to be properly wrapped up. The two straight to DVD movies plot lines could’ve easily been stretched and fleshed out to give us season 11 at least. I really miss Stargate

The Priors are a huge loose end. They're still the most powerful faction, they won't trust the Tauri, can't just accept that the Ark of Truth brainwashed them with the "truth" and can't possibly accept the idea the Tauri still have it and could in principle make them all think they're potted plants if they're the real bad guys. The Priors were fanatics but they actually believed their "gods" after all. It seemed like they were all left in profound guilt for their actions yet the scepticism the Altairans would've "brainwashed" them with would compel them to question that truth too. Meanwhile they couldn't just take the ark by force since if it's all true it'd be wrong and they'd be permanently SOL at ascending which is all any of them care about between those two points. So they'd _need_ to investigate it but if they conclude it's true they'd need to pick Jackson's brain even more as the only one they know who can tell them anything about how to ascend. After all the Ori would've picked Priors from the very least likely to ever ascend on their own. Jackson for his part would want nothing to do with them for fear of helping to create another Anubis if not a thousand. Of course this would only make them more desperate to use their power and tech to earn some goodwill like by helping to try and reach Destiny with a string of supergates perhaps. That would be a lot of conflict and tension even for two seasons.

The Ori were too powerful and without limits. For (supposedly) super intelligent beings they ironically enough turned the entire series way too stupid because unlike, say, the various devilries Baal or Anubis came up with they could just curse your ass and then your base explodes into ravenous bugs. Making it longer would've exposed that rather strikingly.

@@unintentionallydramatic I agree Stargate suffered from severe villain decay but I'm not so sure the word interesting means what you think it means. Given the established abilities of the Priors were so far beyond anyone else they were going to need to be magic-ed away. It's not like Ark of Truth is flawless but aside from how the replicators were shoehorned in and however long it took Tealc to walk across a continent or whatever it was everything it needed to be. Realistically the entire series only remotely makes any sense if the Ascended Altairans have been quietly guiding events in the prime timeline of SG1 since Children of the Gods.

SG-1 et al is/was one of the all-time greatest looks at what sci-fi can be. Thanks to everyone who had a pinkie or brain-wave involved in its creation. Well done folks. So enjoyed it all. Don’t have to have fish to fish. ; )

I miss the days when in a season every episode was its own story. every now and again u got a double. these days u have to watch either a whole season or the whole box set of seaons to finish a storyline, shows that was good at this was StageGates, Star Treks (not inc Discovery), Charmed. theres loads more

If they could have changed the name then maybe we could have had season 3-4 of Stargate : Command (s11 and s12 of Stargate : SG-1). Anyway it is history now, but I hope the franchise will return with new spinoff(s).

It wasn't SG1 anymore without Rick. I tried to like Ben but for me he didn't add anything interesting to the team. He lacked charisma and he didn't impress me as an actor or leader of the team (I never watched his other show). It didn't help they tried to make him O'Neill lite with the humor. At least Jonas was more unique and he had charisma and chemistry with the rest of the team. I liked Vala, though, she added something new indeed. Finally, despite Seasons 9 and 10 looking more expensive, the stories and entertainment weren't better, IMO. I want to see Atlantis soon to find out how good it is compared to SG1, which I loved for the most part.

I personally loved seasons 9 & 10. Ben and Claudia fit perfectly! "Vala" was one of my favorite characters. Claudia made mischievousness SEXY!

It irks me that she hasn't been mentioned since the 2nd movie, apart from a notice that she wouldn't be appearing in the 3rd movie, and a vague mention that "We never intended her to be a permanent cast member, just someone who would come and go and come and go over the years." Sounds to me like she was fired, which irks me because she was such a great character.

I always wished SG-1 would have ended after Season 8 and then have the Ori story arc in a new show. Then we might have had several seasons of Ben and Claudia.

I do wonder if the hypothetical "SGC" show would have been successful, or if it would have died in two seasons just like the version of it we got did, and like SGU did. OTOH, I really like the idea of SG1 having some crazy-long run like The Simpsons, or Dr. Who, you know? Just going and going and going and swapping out some of the cast every so often.

Im not sure i want stargate to return! Im afraid it will be disappointing.. i was disillusioned with the direction universe went. Maybe better to leave the legacy alone than to ruin it. Lets face it Starwars, and Star Trec have both lost the recipe.

Dune and Foundation proved that non-woke really good Sf can be made today. OTOH this guy (Mallozzi ) is one of the people who didn't understand why many fans balked at SGU (shanks got it). SGU was pretty good SF, but virtually no humor which is why people loved SG.

The Ori always felt half baked, I still feel the replicators weren't finished, but dear god I wished the FPS game has finished !

Disagree. It was ruined with Heroes, could only go for 20 if they fixed things. Post Heroes was painful to watch, I didn't enjoy it anymore.

I agree that they were hard to watch, but im not sure how the series was ruined from them, and they could of easier brought back dr Frasier like they did dr carson later on, in the season 9 episode 13 ripple effect, they seemed to toy with the idea

@@tacenda7776 Yeah. Well, it was ruined to me. I know, bringing back Carson but not Janet was unfair to me. Got so depressed I couldn't finish SGA either. My favorite always dies, after SG1 I've struggled with enjoying TV shows in general. Haven't watched anything new in years.

@@Bekka88 i understand that, have you watched season 9 episode 13 ripple effect sg1? Im sure youd like that episode.. and i guess the only reason they brought back carson, was because the fans petitioned them to do so.. i don't like the heros episodes, i have to skip them every watch through.. i usually don't find new shows or movies entertaining, i usually rewatch the movies and episodes i like over and over again, but I do understand where you're coming from

@@tacenda7776 I did once. But it so minor and so temporary. I always end my rewatches before Heroes, too hard to watch. Yes I do too, everything I've watched for a while has been rewatches of older shows of the seasons I like. I wish there was a petition for Janet too, I wanted to make one lately to bring her back in the new show but I feel no one would sign it (since I'm always unlucky). Thanks.

Stargate had and has so much potential... It would have lasted longer than star trek and star wars.. im just worried that when they bring another series out, that they'll ruin the franchise with modern bull crap.. i hope they (who ever produces the next Stargate) keeps it like the original series.. leave out the modern political and racial and sexual bull crap.. that's a big reason I don't want Netflix nor Amazon to take control of it.. film it as if it was still 2004

As much as I deeply love SG1 the Ori, for me at least, were just not the same kind of baddie as goa'uld, not in the same league entertainment wise. Dont get me wrong I still enjoy watching those episodes but I just do not find it believeable that the goa'uld were done. Yes the system lords who were in power "at the time" were defeated but all through the goa'uld story arc it was reinforced many times that you take down a system lord and there is always a lower goa'uld waiting to take thier place. So to truely defeat the goa'uld you would have to kill every single symbiote through out all of the galaxys at the same time. Not really a feasible senario especially when considering that there were 100's if not 1000's of worlds spread across an unknown number of universes, that could harbor some lifeform or the other that a symbiote could infect. Then of course there is the established fact (with the show) of alternate realitys and universes, some of which we know had goa'uld and if our SG1 could discover and visit these alternate realitys and universes then so could the goa'uld that are in them discover and start to try and take over ours. So in this context, the goa'uld are still out there and very much as big of a threat as they ever were. We know that the goa'uld were aware of Atlantis so it is not a short leap to imagine that they would at least try and establish a base there - after all they are ego driven and every lifeform is beneath them.
