The story Mitzi is reading is about Isadora Duncan. She was a dancer and celebrity in the 1920's. When they mention her 'scarf', they're talking about how she died. She was in a friend's convertible while she was wearing a very long scarf. The scarf got tangled in the car's rear axel and ended up breaking her neck.

@@NevaehEvol Yeah, I remember learning about her. I don't remember how long her scarf was (like 15-20 feet?) I remember it was silk, which is why it didn't tear. And I think she lost her children in a car accident some years before. She was a truly tragic figure.

Ah that makes sense, I thought it was an old slang word for "sex worker", but if it was a reference to a real freak scarf accident that's a cool bit of history to tie in to a character reading a paper from that period.

A few fun facts: Rocky, Freckle, and Ivy are all based on Tracy Butler's real life cats The fact everyone are cats is purely aesthetic. Turn everyone to humans, and the story remains exactly the same Mordecai's voice actor, ProZD, actually first got recognition on KZbin by doing fan-dubs of the comics. In one of the Q&A comics someone asked if Rocky had a thing for Mitzi. 11:43 That's the Thing. It's a cactus friend. It watches you while you sleep. And if you want more of this, I can't recommend the original webcomic enough! It give more depth to every character here and adds many more!

@@NevaehEvol The sad part about Rocky, Freckle, and Ivy; is that the comic began in 2006. Given the life expectancy of domestic cats... yeah. I'm also pretty sure this doesn't fit in to the timeline of the comics. Not to give too much away, but Freckle doesn't become a triggerman for the gang until after an incident that gave Rocky a serious head wound. Speaking of; you've seen what Rocky is like normally. Just imagine what happens when you add cranial trauma on top of that! There are demons in that boy's head, and they start slipping out through the crack in his skull

So, there is a scene in the webcomic, quite near the start actually, where Rocky does that poem without his violin. I actually think they've combined a few early parts and dropped us in the middle with the Pilot, which I don't mind because 20-odd minutes of animation is a different beast that 20-odd pages of webcomic and it just makes sense with the shift of medium.

Just an FYI, the reason Viktor is so reluctant to give Ivy the drink is because he is somewhat protective of her. So when Ivy and Freckle went off to dance, Viktor did not like the idea of a boy getting close to her. Kind of like an overprotective elder brother situation

One thing I just noticed about the character animation: for most of the characters, the ears and tails are animated with the rest of the bodies' movement, IE only emoting when the cat in question is moving (you can see this most clearly with Rocky when he got "the zoomies"). Except for one: Mordecai. Maybe its just because his characterization in terms of how he's animated is so still and controlled in comparison with the others, but you notice the tail and ear twitches a lot more with him when the rest of him is not moving. Also I wonder if the series (if it becomes one) will follow the plot of the comic, how closely, or if it will either diverge or come up with new storylines.

Also, Viktor doesn't hate Ivy. She is like a daughter to him. He's just overprotective of her underage drinking (she's 18, and the legal drinking age is 21) and her choices for boyfriends (He already incapacitated 3 of them, and Freckle is likely next if he screws up).

The different names for the bugs is actually more so based on where a person grew up and who they are around because u get certain different dilects depending on where ur from and who u r growing up with that u pick up the accent and dilect. So for example in some places in the USA they call them lightning bugs and in other places they call them fireflies some do both actually. But there r also other names they have as well in other places I just can't remember all of them.

If you pay close attention the dialogue trades off stanzas between characters in a very clever form of moving poetry. The opening is the most obvious but as you go along, you can trace the stanzas and who they are about and bouncing off. The webcomic apparently goes harder but the site crashed after the pilot released so I hadn't tried to get in to read it again yet.

The pilot takes place in the same universe as the Lackadaisy webcomic that has been running for almost 20 years at this stage. The universe is essentially the same aside from all the inhabitants being cats instead of humans, but from what I've learned, it's unclear if certain events like the American Civil war happened because everyone seems to be a different breed of cat. So things like racism might not exist.

I'm sorry that the reaction wasn't up to par with your expectations! (it certainly wasn't for me, namely because of the audio balancing issues i was having; you can barely hear my talking outside of the places where i pause the animation!) I try to pause frequently to give my input, but I also try to verbalize my thoughts quickly so as not to result in a crazy long video. It's all about balance, and I'm still very new to the field (my debut w my model was a little more than a year ago, after all!), so I'd love any feedback you have for me
