People visit Helsinki and are like "there's nothing to do here". But like, this is what I've done in Helsinki in the last 6-months alone: * Gone throwing axes at a axe/knife throwing range * Gone shooting guns and crossbows * Gone to fancy cocktail bars * Gone on a old war ship from the 1700s and sailed around the Helsinki sea * Gone rock-climbing * Played lazertag * Gone bowling *Gone to boardgame cafes and arcades to play games with friends * Gone to art museums * Gone to a VR-Games lounge * Gone to the movie theaters *Gone on several hikes, as well as mushroom and berry picking in the vast woods * Gone to the beach and swimming in the sea (Hint, best beaches are in East Helsinki further from Center) * Gone to the amusement park *Gone paintballing * Enjoyed autumn days in the park with some beers * Gone to an underground techno rave * Taken an oil painting course * Taken part in a yearly Light inspired Art festival * Regularly go to the gym * Tried boxing * Gone to sauna Helsinki is a decent decent for people with hobbies, who like doing things. You'll find lots of ways to entertain yourself if you look out for the places. But yes, they're not exactly easy always for tourists to find, or randomly walk across. In Helsinki, most fun and "hobby" places tend to be annoyingly hidden, so you have to know where you're going.

The people complaining about how expensive beer is in Finland don't understand a core concept of Finnish culture, that being the culture of making kilju, a beloved homebrewed alcoholic beverage (which is literally pronounced Kill-You). In more rural parts of Finland, it is normal to homebrew- well, 'wine' would be the wrong word, because there are no grapes, and 'beer' would be the wrong word, because there is no hops and there is no malt. Kilju is made using sugar, water, and brewers' yeast. It is about 15% alcohol if made correctly, and if you don't flavor it or mix it, it just tastes like watered-down vodka, because it is literally just ethanol, dead yeast, and water. Most grocery stores sell pikahiiva, literally meaning "quick yeast," which is dried brewer's yeast intended for use in making kilju. Kilju is sometimes distilled into pontikka, which is Finnish moonshine, and flavor wise is something like a cross between white rum, vodka, and armpit. It is not technically illegal to make pontikka in Finland, but it is illegal to sell it without a license.

A niche Finland also excels in is death metal. The Finnish scene was known for a strange and unorthodox take on the genre. The best example is probably Demilich, who played in irregular time signatures, used off-kilter riffs and had completely alien vocals, often compared to a burping frog. They only released one full-length album and went largely unnoticed before dissolving in the early 90s, but gained a cult following on the internet and are now regarded as highly influential to the genre. They even reformed and are touring live due to the newfound appreciation. Other great Finnish death metal artists include Rippikoulu, Demigod, Adramelech, Krypts, Slugathor and Galvanizer.

My friends. On 3rd of January 2024, this man single handedly made Finnish population grow by 1,5 million people! Just day before, the Finnish population was 5,5 million, but somehow 1,5 million people just appeared out of thin air making the new population over 7 million!

yes finnish people are happy if you ask them. but imo the best description about finnish youth is from hte interview where they ask from a teen that "what do finnish youth do these days" and the answer they got was "umm, drink alcohol, do drugs, s--cide" yeah we are the happiest cuz no sad person makes it past 25 gg finland.
