At the begging of your video you have mentioned that the apparent power is 200 KVA and the active power is 270 KW. If we divide the active power over the apparent power we will get P.F equal to 0.85, does that mean the actual P.F is 0.85?

Heat kills power factor on Air conditioning unit when I tested at 0.7! When I spray outdoor Aluminium coils, power factor went up and then the current dropped. At 240 volts, 3 amps down to 2.7 amps. Power factor went up! Is this right? And does it make sense? Cheers from Australia just subbed.nice work 🙂👍👍👍

IN RAILWAY TRAIN THE CHARGING SOCKET IS 110V DC.. THE CHARGER TAKES 230V AC AND STEP DOWNS - 5V AC. & THEN IT USES RECTIFIER TO CONVERT AC TO DC IF I PUT MY CHARGER... HOW CAN IT STEP DOWN 110VDC - 5VDC.. AS WE CAN'T STEP DOWN DC HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE SIR

That's a nice video. But one quick question from 03:26 . If my 1HP motor takes 1.42 HP because of 0.7 pf, the utility can still charge me for 1HP only right..Because that's only consumed. Remaining power just flows back and forth without doing useful work and hence can't be chargeable.And thats the very reason why penalty is charged, right? and not like we charged for 1.42 HP taken . Correct me if I'm wrong.
@TheKingmalik007
@TheKingmalik007 6 жыл бұрын
your 1hp will comsume 1 hp only let us say 1KW, but the KVA drawn from the source is more than actual KVA needed.. as 1 KW=0.8 KVA, hence you are using more KVA than required, and you will be charged based on that.. and due to reactive power you are injecting into the TL, its efficiency reduces and losses are increased hence you are penalized too..

How utility can measure the power factor?? What I know is that they install a CT which feeds an Energy Meter which will calculate the total Kwh based on the current delivered from CT, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sir Gaurav J i have a question please help me. Induction motors consume reactive power so why should power factor be close to 1? as you said in another video the closer power factor gets to 1, lesser will be the reactive power. so why less reactive power while our induction motors needs reactive power? thanks
@GauravJ
@GauravJ 6 жыл бұрын
Yes of course, induction motor, transformer needs reactive power. As you have seen in the video, low pf means motor will consume more power from utility, and utility will give penalty for that. And hence to avoid this, pf of motor is increased and the required reactive power is provided locally by installing capacitor banks. The capacitors will provide required reactive power to the motor, and the electricity bill will be reduced.

Dear Hamid Jamili: Reactive power (RP) is of two sources: One, known as lagging, is produced from inductive loads(IL); the other, known as leading, is produced from capacitive loads(CL). Both are used to balance one another as a corrective measure. Thus, a RP from an IL is fed with a RP from a CL to correct it by balancing the effect. They characteristically always cancel one another. I hope this would help. Cheers!

Plz..answer to my question as soon as possible,as long as possible..reply.. -× Why impedence between the windings of transformer kept infinite...?
@GauravJ
@GauravJ 6 жыл бұрын
Transformer with infinite impedance is not possible practically. In practical you will always find some resistance with inductive reactance. Basically it is done to reduce the short circuit current if in case two windings touches each other.
