Nice. Your knowledge brought me to hear a mesmorizing version of this melody. I thank you. French documents mention Pérotin and Gautier lived in the exact same time period with an estimated 3 years difference in both birth and death... both associated with Notre Dame. I wonder what was the vision on intellectual property at the time. hehe.. Strangely I am suddently reminded of modern Ivory Coast singers that say "Whoever sings it better owns the song"! haha

In Bible times, and early Mediaeval times angels were always male, then they became more androgynous, and now are generally portrayed as female -WHY? How come they have 'changed sex', seems odd to me.

I rarely know in detail the meaning of the texts of medieval music, but the condemnation of Jews seems unusual to me. Perhaps such material is avoided by some modern performers. I may have heard similar texts on the Pilgrimage To Santiago discs, also by the New London Consort.
