Plastic makes the device feel cheap so it’s a consumer feel thing. Metal inhibits wireless charging so glass is the alternative. My fave phone of all time in terms of build was my Lumia windows phone. Damn thing was a tank, and the plastic felt fine to me.

I use mine in a protective case anyways. A7 2017. Been using for 3.5 years at this point. It'll do good for 2 more years, still in a good as new condition.

My old one was gorilla glass I think? Idk but it looked really nice and was super durable. It wasn't wireless charging but that honestly never mattered to me
