One time, I was at the market, and the edge of 17 came on. Myself and a few random people started singing along. It was so awsome because we were all different ages and races. That's powerful music! It almost felt like we were going to be a flash mob 😂

I'm shocked that this song wasn't as big of a hit I've always thought it was. To me, it seems it's always been around on radio, old tv cd compilations. It's so beautiful, full of emotion, not to mention that guitar at the end there. It's probably a perfect song! I love it so much! And they've only had ONE #1 hit?! Craaaaaazy!

Man, I’ve got to agree with you. Mac was really a special cocktail of talent that, while popular during the day, has it’s value in the ‘damn’ moments we crash into when rediscovering their many fine works. Gypsy perfectly symbolizes this. Thanks, Professor. Loved this.

We NEED a re-release of Buckingham Nicks! It's such a brilliant album. When I went to see the recording of Lindsey Buckingham's Soundstage special in 2003, Stevie was there to do a couple songs and someone yelled out "Frozen Love!!" She sang a couple lines from the song and the roof about blew off the place. Then she stopped and said that's all she could remember. 😆I'm not sure either of them realize what a gem that song and album are for the fans.

Years later, VH1 on South African satellite dish channel, woudl also play most 80s music to death, others that should have been there, never featured. Anyway,it is what it is. Only people born in early 70s teeagers in 80s, will fully appreciate the great music of those years, maybe some "boomers" will also still love it. Music like that died in the early 90s, though very few persevered and stayed evergreen

This was the first song that I really connected with Fleetwood Mac. I then went back to Rumors and other albums, but I was awe-struck by Stevie. To your point, I could listen to the last 90 seconds over and over and watch Stevie dance while listening to Lindsay's guitar playing. He is VERY overlooked as a guitar maestro in my opinion. "Big Love" live on The Dance shows this well. Another great episode Professor. Thanks for sharing.

Very well said. I have always loved F-MAC and I remember as a 14 year old boy, crushing hard on Stevies beautiful album photos. The bands music is timeless, and listening anything in their catalog is always a welcomed experience. When you see them live, and they Play the song The Chain, it's something to behold, Lindsay's guitar solo at the end leaves you spellbound. Of all Fleetwood Mac's beloved songs, "Dreams", "Go Your Own Way", "You Make Loving Fun", "Don't Stop", and more. "Gypsy" with it's crisp sounding of the drums, nice studio work; is the one song that leaves you wanting more and simply the trance is over when it's over you are over back to real life. "Hold Me" which also has a unique flavor for a pop song, "Rhiannon", another haunting beautiful piece, and oh let's not forget "Landslide". What musicianship and song crafter Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac as a group were!

I grew up when all these songs were readily available on radio stations. Back when you had to hope to catch your favorite artists on the radio, unless you were fortunate enough to have the album. Even if the station didn’t come in well & you could barely hear the music w/ all the static…… Casey Kasem was a great show. Your channel provides so much more content and history. In those days, if it had been a choice between Dick Clark, Casey Kasem or you (on tv or radio), my choice would have been you, hands down. (In those days, you weren’t able to record shows on your VCR or DVR, you had to make a choice. You had to turn the tv or radio on early, or you might miss the songs you were hoping to hear. What a great job you do! Thanks for sharing. I always look forward to your posts.

Gypsy definitely brings the feels ... and definitely one of my favorite Fleetwood Mac tracks, among many! Lindsey and Stevie brought the magic and from there, Christine and the others blossomed, inspirring the band to even higher levels over their careers. I'm going to guess, you've heard the album Lindsey and Christine put out together in 2017. Sure, it's Fleetwood Mac without Stevie but, it's solid ... which just says to me, Lindsey was the real magician in "The Mac".

For me, of all of Stevie Nicks' haunting ballad-type songs ( Sarah, Dreams, etc) , Gypsy seemed to me to be the most successfully and archetypally crafted one. It's got all the trademark characteristics but honed to perfection. Possibly my favourite Mac song.

I was going to say this! You could really see the splintering but, I think, by allowing us to see it they created really beautiful art both visually and musically. The “Gypsy” video was haunting. Buckingham looked like he was longing for her even as she wanted to get away. To me, she was walking away from the pain.

@@ceciliajones7816 awesome interpretation also I forgot to mention the most emotional scene in the video it's the black and white shot of Stevie dancing in the rain and when it cuts to the tearful expression in her eyes it's a really vulnerable moment to see the true heartbreak Stevie was feeling at the time

@@xxlilly_playsxxkiz9980 mirage is that Fleetwood Mac album from the cover photo of Christine between Lindsey and Stevie with out any eye contact and the back cover of Mick and John looking away, to the videos of hold me and gypsy with all of the members divided and scattered and the general mood of the album was pretty gloomy and there was none but very little vocal harmonies from the 3 main members with mostly Lindsey sharing the harmonies with Christine but despite all of this it's still a great album and a definitely more grounded album than the previous wild experimentation of tusk and has some very good songs such as love in store, straight back, book of love which is probably one of Lindsey's angriest songs and I think it's keeping with the albums central themes of loss of love and trust, trying to move on from a difficult divorce and break up, and moving forward from those situations also love hold me and only over you as well
