The greatest ode to unrequited love that has ever been written, played, and sung. Still heartbreaking after all these years. Bonnie is a true legend.

I don't know who wrote this song, but I love that it doesn't assign blame. "You can't make your heart feel something it won't." It's just a sad fact of life that not all relationships are meant to be. Bonnie sure does make you feel that pain when she sings this song.

Love u both . Mel your looking gorgeous as usual. Prince liked Bonnie and he did a cover of this song on his Emaciation CD. Ray Charles did a duet called Do I Ever Cross Your mind on Genius Loves Company. It's a incredible CD of duets with amazing friends and artist of Mr.Charles. Bonnie is a legend in her own right. Blessings always. #peaceandstaywild

Prince did a cover of this song on his Emancipation album, he and Bonnie had a good relationship for many years. They even collaborated on a song recorded back in 1987 called I Need A Man but it wasnt released until 2020 on his re released Sign O the Times album. She does the lead vocals on the original track which you can find on YT and he sung vocals on the newer version, both tracks are amazing

There are only 2 other songs that come close to this song's level of sadness, IMO: Level 42's - Leaving Me Now and Dan Fogelberg's Heart's In Decline. Both, coincidently, feature piano prominently. Well done S&M.

A long-time fan of Raitt's, I fell in love with this song when her album, Luck of the Draw, was released. Recently VoicePlay covered it spectacularly - with respect for the original, but reviving it with their own spin. I was skeptical..... but it's gorgeous. You should give it a listen. (VoicePlay is completely indie, and likes reactors, so no worries there. They will stand with you if KZbin gives you trouble. And their loyal fans will be there to check you out if you react.)

I wouldn't have climbed into bed with someone that didn't love me in the 1st place! So, the song is doubly sad that someone would crawl into bed with another person... knowing that they did not love them! Truly sad......

Oh God ..........well goody good for you. Life takes us through so many journeys. Who said it was a one night stand?? It could be a 3 year relationship that she finally realized he didn't love her. ITS NOT ABOUT CLIMBING INTO BED for a one night stand. YOU HAVE TO KNOW SOMEONE WELL TO COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT ITS JUST NOT THERE. There is no certificate that guarantees someone has you in their heart. Life is a gamble.
