I have it. I have had it for 2 years and heard a lot of hate about it being overpriced and what not but after 2 years I'll say its fantastic. Its beautiful and flawless in every way except that it doesn't dim. Wasted energy if veg with this one but its absolutely perfect otherwise. Love it. Has changed me from Eye Hortilux hps fanboy to Gavita led.

Get the Gavita Master EL 1 controller/adaptor. You can dim @ 50% and you have Sunrise/Sunset on deck. It’s straight🔥🔥🔥

Have two gavita pro 1700e and master controller EL2 gen2 in two 5x5 tents. Grows plants short and tight which is good when having limited high restrictions. But what didn't like was had to pay extra for component that should already be included. Like the power cord, dimmer control and led Adapter. Them things cost good chunk of money! Also the dimmer only goes down to 50% which kinda sucks...whomp...whomp..whomp.

It only goes down to 50% because it doesn't lose efficiency until below 50%. Therefore it's better for the bulbs and plants. That's why the Phillips advanced driver is so good

Neither phantom photobio mx. It has dim control out the box. Remote ballast capable. Theres no point saving 100 to 200 and getting a lesser product with lesser warranty or lesser resale value if you quit growing.

I'm down to Gavita 1700e, Fluence Spydr2147 or Growers Choice ROIe720, which would you pick, and more importantly is there any other you think is better in that price range?

I got a couple buddies who use nothing but Optic. I don't use em but I test quite alot of lights for my shop and can tell you the Optic Slim from what I've seen is a class by itself. Not quite near something like a Fohse but close at much more affordable price.

Exactly... And it has no onboard dimming so you need a controller in order to dim it down. And it needs an adapter in order to hook up a controller? And it only dims down to 50%! No wonder you don't see many growers with this light.

Cheaper options doesn't take into account gavita warranty or resale value. Why would you want to decrease output lower then 50% unless your talking clones.

@@Ryan-mc3mx Why would I want to decrease the light output past 50%??? First off, a fixture that pricey shouldn't be limited in any manner, especially such a basic one. But to answer your question there are several reasons... As you mentioned earlier, clones and seedlings utilize much lower levels of light. And some growers like myself choose to manually simulate a sunrise/sunset effect by using the dimmer knob, but that's obviously not possible in this case... Lower light levels also come in handy if plants grow too close to the light and ceiling height is an issue. And not to mention the biggest factor of all, and this may come as a shocker, but not everyone grows cannabis! Some species of plants simply require lower levels of light...

I’m about to lower to 30 inch at 100% and let it grow to make 24” then flick to flower when the plants reach that point
