Just discovered this review, great stuff chaps. Love the channel! Living near the Lake District I felt obliged to show some loyalty to the clan and buy a tin, and it did not disappoint. I have a fondness for Condor long cut for personal reasons but Ennerdale is my guilty secret ! P.S. Ennerdale is a dale (valley) in the English Lake District and is one of the few which doesn’t actually contain a lake. There is though the ruins of an old Roman fort from 2000 years ago and also one of the steepest passes in the country. Quite an enchanting little place. Great channel, great comments. Keep going.

In my opinion Ennerdale is one of the most full flavoured blends on the market. The sweetness lasts all the way to the end of the bowl better than any other blend.

Great review! I just tried Ennerdale recently and I couldn’t agree more with the tea taste. I like your idea of getting some vigorous discussion going. A topic I think could be interesting would be a discussion on pipe selfies in the online pipe groups. Some find them annoying, some think they’re great. Not sure if that’s the direction you want to go, but it seems to be a polarizing topic. Looking forward to your new segment!

Due to the limited availability I have not been able to try any of the GH or SG blends. The only blend I have been able to try with Lakeland essence is the GLPease Stonehenge flake which I really like. I am looking forward to trying some of the Lakeland blends.

I think the "Let's Ash it out!" idea is awesome! Just as long as any remaining contention from the discussion gets dumped with the ash and everyone parts as friends! Side note: I had my mouth washed out with soap on a number of occasions as a kid and you just hoped that the bar didn't scrape on your teeth! Maybe that's why I'm a little hesitant to embrace the Lakeland blends, but I'll give Ennerdale a shot!

Bergamot is the dominate flavor in Earl Grey tea and it's my favorite hot tea to drink. It goes well with tobaccos that don't have to heavy a flavoring I find.

Rose geranium essential oil - not rose water- is the floral aspect of Ennerdale, and of many other GH&Co. blends. It’s a flowering plant unto itself, different than rose and geranium individually.

how do fellas luke here from the uk. Ennerdale is best with earl grey tea and dried for 5 hours. rubbed out until its almost dust then packed extremely light. smoked very very slow and it tastes exactly as it smells, turkish delight. the Virginias in this blend tend to sour quick so its best to make sure to pack this blend lightly and make sure the bottom of the bowl is rubbed out more than the top. when its aged it is the best aromatic ever crafted imho

Ennerdale is one of my favorite G&H tobacco blends, the others being Bob's Chocolate flake and Kendall Flake. I've got some cellared from 2010. Still as aromatic as the day it was bought. Good review.

Yep, a cup of Yorkshire brand Tea very popular here in England sweetened with honey and a dash or two of milk goes extremely well with any pipe tobacco of your choice..And of course a shot of peaty Scotch to follow..Six dollars an ounce, oh don’t , we pay twice that much in tax here ..Oh well .

Interesting review on a great tobacco , I’ve never had this one yet. Short and to the point, that’s me……….KZbin is not Facebook and about 75% of the presenters have gone down the road of taking their pipe content channels and morphing into other things. That’s marvelous but no thanks. I subscribe to many YTPC channels and I don’t watch if it is not related to pipe smoking. Another reason why I haven’t been on Facebook for many years.

Bob’s Chocolate, Best Brown #2, and GL Pease Stonehenge Flake are just about as deep as I can wade into the Lakeland waters. It’s a mental thing. Lightly floral I can do, but when my mind drifts to soap-the enjoyment is gone. Great review- be well.

Wow! Really surprised you reviewed a Lakeland...and Ennerdale at that!!! "Old Granny's Knickers'" being the less polite, more widely accepted description over here as you might know. Geranium could be the missing flavour you were looking for, and I have always thought that essences from either peach or apricot stones might be present. There is always the feeling that there is more in a SG/GH blend than they tell you but you can't quite put you finger on it. It's kind of part of the experience. I expected you guys to hate this blend, but it's really cool to see how you embraced this "weird" side of UK pipe smoking heritage. FYI, it's divided over here, with many who just don't get it as a tobacco genre, but with all the heritage it is well respected nonetheless. They're widely accepted as aromatics, but often referred to as Lakeland Aromatics and you always know that the tobacco quality and blending is superior despite being a tad masked behind all that is going on. If you're looking for something less standard Virginia then look no further than Westmoreland Slices or 1792. The former being pretty much a mixture of something like HH Bold Kentucky and a slightly muted Ennerdale. The latter flavoured with Tonka and known for its nic. Bosun's Cut Plug (amaaaaazing!!!) and Mahogany Flake are by far my favourites btw and are really interesting too. On another note, Let's Ash it Out would be a very welcome concept. It would be really good to get some useful, frank insights on all things within our pipe community and less BS. Cheers guys and happy smokes! (Formerly Jez Smith)
