Hey my sexy friend; People keep their chickens in coops, not to keep the chickens in, so much as to keep the myriad of predators out. I’m concerned that, just as you get really attached to them, Coyotes, owls, or hawks will start snatching them. If you build them a nice coop, they can run around the yard during the day, & be safe at night. You seem like a really nice guy & I want you to be happy! PS Love the open floor plan, & what you’re doing to the place. Have fun!

Hi brother the home is coming out great its big love the openness. Babe you have to get your chicks a kennel pen put the little dog house in there but the like to roost at night so if you get a kennel you can move it around the yard to eat the grass an they can range in the yard keep them in the kennel for awhile they will know thats their roosting an safe place.leaving them out to free range they could be killed by night animals an during the day they could be taken by a hawk.i let mine out in the morning to range an eat the grass with the kennel you can put a trap on the top make sure the kennl comes with wire on top the tarp will keep the rain off them an you can make them some laying boxes. I would hate to see them get killed.you can go on Facebook market an look to see if there is one for sale if not put it out there that you are looking for a full inclosed kennel. Look at lowes or homedeport.they have them.they will drink alot you will need to get them a larger water bottle one that holds a gallon in 6months you will be picking eggs put them on laying pellets get a self feeder you can hang it from the top just a little off the ground. You have agreat place. Will you be working there an not traveling anymore.just happy for you.your pup loves the out doors how much land do you have. This video makes me realize why I didn't buy a fixer upper house, but kudos to Andrew who is my neighbor, who's into gutting and redoing a house. I live like 6 miles north of him in South Hill (Puyallup, Wa) I figure I'll bump into him around Graham or Puyallup one of these days. Everyone moves to WA, that's why houses here went up so fast! It is pretty here and I love our mild climate and how green it is.

Not to put a damper on your dreams, but - free-range chickens? How long do you think they will survive? Snakes, foxes, stray cats and dogs, heaven knows what else. I would really hate to see a video with you reporting on their loss. Take some precautions to keep them safe - please, for your sake!

I let my chickens out every morning and they roam the farm. At night they go back into their coop and I lock em in. Most predators are nocturnals and usually hunt after dark. Plus, I think it's the most natural way for my chickens to live.

Good Luck Andrew. This is an ONGOING Project. You may want to consider a Night time Coop for the fowl to keep them safe from Predictors. Let them out all day to eat bugs and such that makes for better eggs, but at night, they are vulnerable. Good Luck!!

Wild life will make a snack out of them chickens. They have to have a fully secured pen and pond water is not good for chickens. Pond water = sick chickens. . Please keep up updated .

I’ve owned chicken for many years. My chickens would roam free inside their chicken pen. That is until a bobcat figured out a way to start snatching them one by one. Needless to say, they lost their chicken pen and the ones that survived, now live primarily in their chicken coop. Of course, it has a nice big enclosed area where they can get plenty of sunlight. I live not too far from your neighborhood, and believe me, backyard chickens are a delicacy for wild predators. May your three girls bring you lots of delicious eggs and may they live a long and healthy life.

you need to cover the top of that chicken pen with chicken wire or the hawks and owls will take them, and it would be easy for a coyote to get over that fence. They won't last long walking to a pond on their own either.

Hey kid if you want the water to clear up throw a couple of bales of straw in the deep end that helps to clean up the pond and water clarity also if u use a sumppump will help to keep bugs down as the water is moving but looking good the house is

Hello 👋🏽 Andrew, your home is starting to take shape. Whew what a project, I know how tough it is to live in a house during construction. I bought a house when I was going to college and I totally remolded it on top of my studies and work schedule, total insanity 😂. As for your new chick, I’m sure you’ve read the comments on having a chicken coup. Their are wild creatures that love tasty chicken. All in all you have a beautiful piece of property and I’m sure it will be beautiful when your all done. Although, I’m not sure if that’s the case with unending projects. Good luck buddy 🏳️‍🌈🙋‍♂️
