Around 2 1/2 years ago, I got interested in making journals. I started collecting things from thrift stores, Good Will, and garage sales. I had just started making journals when 2 years ago (at the end of Oct), at 49yrs old, I had a stroke. I was diagnosed with aphasia because of the stroke, effecting my speech (I could say my alphabet but I couldn't say how I felt). I had months and months of speech therapy. It also effected my creativity, to the point where I couldn't even color (I used to color to wind down after a hard day at work). I was so frustrated, I thought about giving away everything that I had collected. Around 6 months ago, I came across your channel. You totally inspired me to start my journals again. I do have some days when i just look at my table and don't know what to do, but I started. Thank you, thank you!

Hi gayle, I just have a question. I, like you, have lots of projects on the go. How do you decide what you're gonna work on? Is it what you feel like doing?, is it what is needing to be finished?, is it random selector? I need help choosing which project to work on! Argh! 😜
@gayleagostinelli_ct5 жыл бұрын
Great question! Usually I have something I “have” to do, like a design team journal or project. I try and incorporate something I “want” to do into those projects. For instance, the cardboard cover I wanted to try into the Blue Fern Studios journal I’m working on. I also like to change things up like doing a journal out of a Little Golden Book and then back to making one from a 9 x 12 envelope cover. Same with the subject matter....for instance, I’ll be tired of making Christmas journals after a few. Time of year also plays into it as I’ve just made a couple autumn journals and some Christmas. In the spring, I’ll want to make a garden journal. Often I’ll come across either paper or subject matter that inspires me. I do have trouble sometimes narrowing it down because I have such a long list of things I want to do! I don’t know if this helps or muddy’s the waters even more for you! Lol!! ❤️

Mary's coffee died kit is gorgeous! How in the world does she get the patterns so sharp with the coffee? I'm lucky if my pattern shows up. I love the ephemera folio, the paper is pretty and it's well laid out, love the little stamp holder. I'm confused, is it Stacy or Sara that made the folio? I love the little domino accordion journal, I haven't seen that before. Her box is like a treasure box. I love the Fruit Garden and Home magazine. The fall napkins from Robyn are beautiful. More beautiful died papers from Diana. I love the envelopes. Reading back I love everything! But I really do.: } There are so many beautiful papers. The Christmas tags are beautiful.

Gayle, I have a question about dying paper. Looked at a lot of process but I always have on unanswered question, does the paper have to be baked? Most directions call for drying in the oven but I don't currently have a working oven. I also saw a couple where ladies talk about sun drying. Between wind and winter rains not to practical for me, can the paper just slow dry at room temperature or does it need to be heat treated to set the dye? Thanks for your help!

Hi Gayle! Love the coffee dyed papers. No more left when I visited and that was only 2 hours after you aired this. That's a wonderful ephemera folio Sarah made! Wow! And yup, all gone, too. Nice things, especially the craft stuff, from Linit. And from Robyn and Diana, too! Nice mail, everyone! I was curious about how to get really good lacey coffee dyes, so I looked that up on KZbin and I found this video. It's a bit different method. She uses diluted alcohol in her coffee dye. There is also information on how to make your own lace stencils using lace molds for cake making and chalking. It's a pretty good video in showing how to get very vivid lace effects on coffee dyed papers: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHWpn513orCHpNU I just used a large paint sample card to make a really nice envelope and tag. They really turn out pretty good...so many colors and helps with color coordinating things. Really nice napkin tags. I will have to make some of those, too. Well, I need to go to bed. I never can get to sleep at a decent hour anymore. Too much thinking about things and just wanting to do things. Take care now, Gayle. Hugs! God Bless!

Myself being a newbie I would love to see what photo editing program you use on your computer and watch you edit a digital imagine from very small to large in percentage. Or any other thing you might can show us on the computer that we can use. Stuff like that would help so much. 🙏 Pretty Please!!!! 🤗😁❤️
@gayleagostinelli_ct5 жыл бұрын
Well, darlin’, I would if I could. I don’t have an editing program like photoshop on my computer. So the only way I change the size of something is by using the percentage on the print screen. I’m not very techie at all. That’s one of the reasons I don’t edit my videos. And...I don’t want to spend time at the computer, so haven’t taken the time it would require to learn.
