Planting rice and BOODLE FIGHT FEAST with my family [Gayyem Ben]

We plant rice two times a year. When the rainy season comes during June, it's a sign for us to plant rice in the rice fields. We harvest rice in the months of October and November . We plant rice again in the month of December and harvest it next year on the months of March and April when the dry season begins. Today, let's work on the rice fields together with the hardworking locals. Let's uproot and transplant the young rice plants in the rice field. To feed my family, we made a feast for dinner-a boodle fight feast! ____________________________________ What is a Boodle Fight? Essentially, this is a Filipino tradition that involves various foods splayed out on a table. Now this would often be placed on banana leaves so you know that you have a nice and clean surface for your dishes. But you absolutely cannot forget one of the most important parts of the boodle fight- absolutely no utensils should be used. That means your spoon and fork, and even chopsticks, should be out of the way. That is the fun of eating the boodle fight way! But where does the “fight” part come in? Well, this actually began as a Philippine military tradition during the period of American colonization in the Philippines. And the word “boodle” was army slang for certain treats. And so the beauty of the boodle fight is also in multiple people coming together to eat a great feast! Since Filipinos truly value the idea of sharing when it comes to food, the idea of the boodle fight came to life. In a nutshell, if you ever were to host a boodle fight, don’t forget to prepare various dishes- mostly grilled ones- on banana leaves. And with a group of people, get ready to chow down using your hands! All the fun is in the way we get to eat our favorite dishes together. Planting rice is hard work, even harvesting involves manual hard work too. Thank you to our hard working farmers, without them there will never be rice. Rice is life ❤ I don’t know how they do here in Australia I haven’t seen a rice field here? Their no 1 staple here is potato & cattle (meat). Their diet here consists mostly either meat, vegetables, salads, bread, seafoods etc…

Oh yes, plowing the fields and planting rice it brings me a lot of my Lolo's memory whenever we go to his farmlands❤. And definitely here in our country, is the season of wet again ,w/c means every farmers in their own farmlands gathered to cultivate the staples of our nation esp. rice. Thank you for such vlog ,my memories just got refreshed again when my grandparents are still alive. Keep planting my friend and let the hunger problems in our country be no more.
