As a non-Muslim, firstly I am so pleased to have found this podcast. I have gained so much understanding about Islam and have continued to learn by following your guests like Sami Hamdi and Sheikh Dr. Qadhi. As an American, I must admit that MANY of us are horrified by our government’s foreign policy going back decades and that democracy and elections have become a disaster for us as we no longer feel we can effect change in this country because any candidate put forth at the federal level has already been co-opted or bought by the elite or military establishment. Many many Americans are with you and support the humanitarian cause in Gaza and elsewhere in the world!

Thank you again for this great discussion. I have followed all the recent appearances of Sami Hamdi on The Thinking Muslim podcast and other platforms. I believe he has great insights into what is happening in the Middle East and the Palestinian issue. I was, however, very surprised when he minimized the achievements of the resistance. He mentioned that the IDF is close to Rafah, presumably meaning that Israel has won militarily. This, in my view, cannot be further from the truth. I agree with Ilan Pappe, the Israeli historian, who stated recently that Israel is finished as a settler colonial project. It is going to be doing a lot of damage and destruction and may even kills tens of thousands more of Palestinians, but it has destroyed its mythical narrative in the process. Israel will never go back to what it was before Oct 7. It may well enter Rafah and push some people outside of Gaza, but it will suffer exactly what the Americans suffered in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan and what the French suffered in Algeria which is death by a thousand cuts.
@dickschlau35929 ай бұрын
There is one fundamental flaw in your analogy. Gaza is not Afghanistan. Gaza is extremly isolated and small. Its flat land you cant hide anywhere and you cant supply the resistance. Afghanistan is a good strategic location for guerilla warfare. Gaza is the worst case scenario. Worst place to defend.

Yesterday marks exactly a century since the official demise of the Ottoman Caliphate. Although the rot had set in much earlier than March 1924, it was exactly on this day a hundred years ago that the Grand National Assembly of Turkey abolished the Sultanate which ultimately reduced Islam to the status of a secularised religion. Unless we come to terms with this catastrophic reality and recognise the urgency of re-establishing the Khilafah as the only means by which to fulfil our role as vicegerents on this earth and restore Islam to its original essence as a deen for mankind, history will not judge us kindly and we will be accountable on the Day of Judgement. Our scholars, students of knowledge, activists, social media influencers and those involved in the dawah must take the lead in this civilisational struggle. Otherwise, we risk sleepwalking into another century as an insignificant footnote in history.
@aziza0009 ай бұрын
Let’s be honest, if you’ve ever read Islamic texts you know ain’t no Khilafah that will be established by any Muslim of today or of the next generation or more so. It will be by Imam Mehdi (AS). The falling of Ottoman empire is what Allah swt had planned for us. If that never fell, the trials and tribulations won’t have started which were prophesied to begin in the last century and this one until the Day of Judgement. We are in the end of times. Better now to accept it than live in delusion. The deen of mankind will only be established by the Mehdi.

When the people in Dearborn Michigan stood up against the rainbow flag being flown in their community, I was ashamed to be an American. The Muslim communities do a better job of standing against pushing these ideologies on our children that do the Americans.

in between times of external stimulation most humans have nothing going on mentally, they are drifting and are just as likely to fall off cliffs, figuratively speaking. obviously they need guidance and religions serve this purpose. however all guidance subtracts from the instinct of morality; the inner everyday instinctual knowing of right from wrong. people who are continuously intellectually aware and are vitally interested in their own thoughts are much more likely to lead satisfying and socially productive lives. some guidance can be useful but is not prerequisite to the positive lived experience. on the other hand, for the drifters, you can give a man a fish and he will eat for one day, however, if he knows how to fish and he will never be hungry. all guidance inhibits instinctual knowledge. most societies succumb to the continuous need for religions and external stimulation. that is how society loses its way and becomes the discombobulated mess that we usually find ourselves in. the answer lies in knowing how to fish, not in needing a new fish every day.

Those Muslims in Dearborn are Americans, what are you talking about?

As a Muslim I will say unambiguously that homosexuality is haram for us but as a political animal I must say that I’m not sure about this decision. There is no possibility of a political alliance with the Christian Right in America as promoting hatred of Islam is central to their ideology. The Muslim community is not yet strong enough to stand alone. Alignment with cultural relativists is going to be necessary for the foreseeable future and that will require compromises. It is a matter of “لكم دينكم ولي دين”.

It’s not Islam that people are aligning with. It’s the plight of the Palestinians. It’s the injustice of it. People all over the world also protested in huge numbers against the Iraq war & that had nothing to do with the fact that Iraqis were Muslim.

But why have there been so many conversions to Islam since 7 Oct? In America, Europe and the UK. Because people are seeing the resilience of the Palestinians which comes from their faith in God. Their unshakeable belief in God is manifest in all those videos on social media, their prayers, their patience - people are wowed by their qualities and want to find out where their strength comes from.

I am not American, or a Muslim, but i have been horrified by what israel inflicts on Palistinians since I was 14, which was in 1967. The issues for US are far wider than just Bidens pro Israel anti Palistinians stance. From an outsiders viewpoint it seems like Biden has sleep walked deeper and deeper into the mire of the current atrocities that are being inflicted on Palistinians of Gaza, and the West Bank. Unquestioning support of Israel by US (and my country of birth UK) seems to be woven into the very fabric of israels existance since its birth. This must be broken- for the existance of Palistinians, and a homestate for tgem. But also for the health of the USA, and UK, and perhaps also for Israel. It is not just Biden who needs to realise that this has gone way to far, and pull the plug on the supply of arms, aid, and approval to Nutty-Yahoo and his ilk. This would mean confronting the israel lobbyists, and that would be best done by outing, and exposing them for the blackmailers and murderers that they are. Without following this course I think US is sunk. And Israel will continue its awfu rampage.
