Wish I would have found you a long time ago man. I just recently started skating again at the age of 35. My kids are getting into it so I dusted of my old Element Board and hit the streets. I can barely do anything anymore lol. I am like an amateur again. You are speeding up my Progress again, you are making it easier to get back in the saddle. I am determined to be good again. My wife came out to the driveway the other day and asked if I planned on eating today or not lol I was out practicing for like 10hrs the other day. I don't know why I ever gave it up... once I was back on that board stress just started melting away, so did the time. It was like I warped back in time and nothing mattered again, just like it used to be in the 90's. I should never have stopped skating, it is my Therapy. Appreciate you Johnny. Your a legend.

@@chrisshort1085 I didn't take much time to get back in the saddle. I have my kicks back and starting to out my lines together again. The same kids that were laughing and just filming now. I might be old with a few grey hair, but I'm the best at the Park Again 🤟☠. This means the world to your kid too, whether he admits it or not. I have had soooo many kids say "Wish my Dad was cool and did stuff" lol I'm glad you are back on a board dude, glad your son has followed in your footsteps. Skaters are a dying breed, and that's sad. Not a skater, but of all skaters I was familiar with through video games, Rodney Mullen always stood out to me. His secret tapes on THPS were insane and quite honestly what probably made me even decide to never pick up a skateboard as a kid, cause there was no chance I was ever doing that. Really cool to see someone tackling some of Rodney's toucher tricks.

Hey man, just wanted to say I’m loving these Mullen trick videos. I loved watching Mullen when I was a kid and these videos are a lot of fun too. Watching these actually inspired me to get a board for the first time in 15 years and get back out there. I’m still just getting my balance back, but I’m hoping to get a kick flip in by the time I turn 30 in a few months. Keep up the great videos. Cheers!

First off: huge props, Jonny--so clean, and natural looking! To the skaters out there who may not have been skating for more than a decade: there was a fairly viral clip of a fakie gazelle around the beginning of KZbin...Completely blew me and a lot of others away; I thought there was no way I could EVER learn it. Well, the thing is: I did start trying them, and eventually learning them, a few years back (funnily enough, completely forgot about the video)...You can learn these really flippy, spinny tricks too...by just having fun and getting some basics down. Taking pressure off yourself to learn things-at whatever timetable-actually helped me get better, and I enjoy skating much more without it. Anyways: shove-->pop shove--> b/s 180-->b/s revert-->kickflip (I would mention b/s flip, but I'm terrible at those)-->half-cab-->fakie shove--half cab flip--full cab-->fakie bigspin flip. now the experimenting... For me, I messed around with trying full-cab flips around the same time I tried bigger spins, then eventually full cab w/ a 540 shove. I don't know what order, but, the bigger spin started becoming easier and easier, which I think was the biggest factor. I have never had full-cab flips consistent, and honestly, I feel a good fakie-spin flip helped the most along with having full cabs down. When I got the fakie "biggest spin", or whatever, I was just toying with trying to revert a fakie bigger spin and it just kinda' happened... Onwards, just over the years of goofing around: getting better at things like skating pyramids. Getting more comfortable with spinning/shoving in transition. I huge one, I think, was doing 'wack' tricks, like, trying do body varials and using the nose and/or tail to revert after in various directions and combinations...It all added up to understanding my board better, I guess. It all just boiled down to one day when I was bored. I did not intend on learning this trick, really. It just happened. It makes you so damn dizzy, and it so hectic, which is why I love it. It really was not until I watched this video that I learned something I thought was impossible, sans wizards. Honestly, I wonder if that kid, like Rodney, just enjoyed flipping and spinning something for the enjoyment of it... By the way, I can't even properly do a back three, or big spin flip consistently. I'm sorry if this was pedantic, this video just brought a lot of memories back. And, I wanted fellow skaters to feel hope that they can learn whatever, really.

I found that doing the Bigflip, forming it off the flick (relying on the formation more so on the flick than popping and sliding the tail), and catching it while predicting the formation it does when you flick it properly, sets up the land for the pivot, BUT you have to first know where the board ends up off the flick formation, then you can start working on your body rotation in practice. I found that I start off the practice for the Gazelle flip with believing I can do it right off the bat, no thought. Once, I'm a little tired, instead of mindlessly throwing it like before, with the belief mentality, I break down the practice into two steps. First step, forming the board relying entirely on the flick to form the Bigflip, while positioning the body for the catch. Step two, having step 1 down, you can focus on the Pop and the Windup. Once you lose focus on formation, you revert back to Step one.
