Great idea. I've thought of it but don't have the only other rotating barrel modern pistol I know of; the Beretta PX4. I spoke to them about it at SHOT and, well.....almost six months later no PX4.

@@GBGuns: probably you can also find a Norinco CF98 to compare. Boberg pistols also had a rotating barrel system but they are small carry pistols so I don't think the comparison with the K100 and the Beretta Px4 is worth something. There's also the Glock 46 but it is not already available for the civilian market. Twenty years ago or so, SIG Arms made the Mauser M2 which was a .40S&W and .45ACP striker fired pistol. I can't remember other "recent" rotating barrel pistols.

Your comments about the hammer spring got me thinking: recoil isn't just one direction. The hammer gun will have 2 springs coming back but only the recoil spring going forward, and the striker recoil spring needs more resistance to make up for the lack of hammer spring; so it will close the slide harder.

I’m curious how this compares to the Excalibur beyond hammer vs striker I’m new to Grand Power so would be cool to have a video round up of their rotating barrel pistols head to head to understand the feature trade offs A good, better & best - based on your opinion - line up with the trade offs would be super helpful. This is especially true when talking about the triggers and recoil between them.

In general a longer slide will feel softer recoiling and be easier to rack. The striker trigger of the Q100 is excellent, but no striker trigger can match a good hammer trigger.

After purchasing the K100 MK23 I was disappointed to see how exceptionally difficult it was to reassemble the slide back on the frame. After several sessions of practice without the recoil spring I was able to figure out how to reassemble the pistol by pressing the grip into my hip while pulling back the slide. It appears that the gunsmith finds the tightest possible fit to make the reassembly as difficult as possible. f you have Gorilla strength and an engineering degree from MIT it should be easy. You will never see Teya trying to reassemble this pistol. That should be part of any field strip review! I have now figured out how to reassemble the pistol, but it's only possible with patience, persistence, and lots of practice.

@@Q.Lawrence In many cases 10 round magazines are just not to be had - especially when it’s a high end Euro sporting pistol that is in limited quantities to start with. They don’t last long in inventories without the hassle or risk of restricted states - so pistols from manufacturers like a GP or Arma AZeka are just not available otherwise. It’s just another form of a back door gun ban

I had two GP, one amazing K100 MK 12 extremely reliable pistol, puls a couple of Q100 Mk12. I had a severe malfunction issue on a Q and the second was just acceptable. The quality control was not enough at least on the first bunch of the Q series. The precision of the gun was outstanding, extremely precise pistols but not so nice with reliability. Hello, big fan of your channel and GP enthusiast here. One question I cannot find any definite answer for: what is the purpose behind the step-chamber in GP pistols? I know it is there(look at the expended casing - it’s bottle-necked), or look down the chamber with the flashlight. But why did GP decide to apply such interesting solution?
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 4 ай бұрын
The stepped chamber allows for better indexing, better accuracy, and even slightly higher velocity than a standard bore-through. Few manufacturers do it because it require more machining time and precise maching to do well. It can also lead to a slightly-snappier recoil feel, but Grand Power's action has that covered by not using a Browning action. Walther also uses a stepped chamber and has since the P99.

Wrapping my finger around the front of the trigger guard didn't work for me either. I've found I can grip "stronger" by keeping all four fingers on my support hand together. It's science😅 all your fingers want to grip together. You compromise grip strength when you spread your fingers apart

Was this new barrel arrangement employed on an updated K100, or they gave up on hammer pistols in favour of the striker fired ones? I accept striker fired pistols but I don't like them. May be just prejudice but " striker fired" always sounds like "light primer strikes" or "my finger is gay" .

@@GBGunsno firearms are truly modern. The concept of a mechanical device that turns a solid into it's gaseous form and then propels another solid down a tube has been around for hundreds of years. In the grand scheme of things, little has advanced since self-contained cartridges and semi-automatic actions. That everyone still talks "Glockese" and that they still dominate the LE and military markets is proof positive Glock is still king...from an HK fan.

Is it fair to say that the CZ P-10F is a good comparison against the Q100 Mk23? The Q100 has the advantage of the rotating barrel, but it seems the triggers are very similar (except the shoe is flat on the Q100) I was watching your video then comparing the trigger of the P-10F vs the Rival vs the Q100 and the CZ seem to have similar travel and reset

Thank you again for sharing your review's. Grand Power makes outstanding firearms. The craftsmanship, manufacturing and engineering is on par with HK and Walther firearms 🤔. My husband and I own all three manufacturers firearms and base that upon visual inspection and publicly available information. I'm not a firearms expert, were collectors of German/ European firearms. Our experience with Grand Power firearms has been positive. Hopefully the Grand Power P 24 becomes available in the USA. It's a classy looking pistol. I have the first generation Q100 with the curved trigger. I love it. I think the locking/unlocking rotating barrel design is much more elegant on the Mark.7 and Mark.12 versions. I'm pretty sure the Mark.23 are great but I so much prefere the old locking/unlocking barrel design. It was the reason I chose the Q100 over the Beretta Px4. Now the Mark.23 system is too similar to the Px4 but I still rather have a Mark.23 over a Px4 😁

Take any hammer fired gun and retract the slide with the hammer down. Next, pull back the hammer and then retract the slide and note the difference in the ease of racking the slide one the hammer is back. I completely agree with you on the lack of hammer spring/main spring deletion causing an increase in the recoil spring coils. The hammer spring/main spring causes quite a bit of the slowing down of the slide during cycling of the pistol. With deletion of this you must either increase the size of the coils on the recoil spring or increase the number of coils to make a heavier resistance in this spring to accommodate the lack of the hammer spring/mainspring. If this had not been done the guns slide velocity would increase substantially and this may cause feeding issues and would definitely cause rapid wear to the pistols operating mechanical + the slide would be ramming the frame at the end of its travel which in time could result in frame failure.

I need a red dot for my eyes so I waited years for the Mk23 series. I bought the K100 mk23 and absolutely love it, the accuracy and low felt recoil are a joy. My major criticism is the supplied case, it is a disgrace. It is extremely flimsy, too small, and is impossible to close and lock much less to keep it closed and locked. Grand power/Global ordinance we need a number of options. Suppressor height sights. Fiber optic sights. Tritium sights. But most importantly a threaded barrel. And maybe a crowned barrel for competition although they have a great competition model.
@GBGuns
@GBGuns 4 ай бұрын
What would you do with a threaded barrel? A muzzle device would rotate so any comp-type thing is out of the question and a uniqure Nielson device (rotating) would be needed for a suppressor.
