She needs to go along with half the socialist city council. Wu clearly does not know what she is doing.

The news has been reporting the empty office buildings for years. This mayor failed to act and now she is just shrugging her shoulders. 1. Here comes tricky evaluations. The land wasn't raised in many years. 2. We had unforseen expenses from migrant issues.
@tobyfisher2ify23 сағат бұрын
So the issue is commercial property took a beating from COVID with decreased occupancy and vaules and the solution is tax them more? Hey you are making less thus we need to tax you more. I imagine business owners see Boston as a bad investment. It will be the east coast San Francisco soon enough. Tax tax tax and the taxpayers leave.

Yet another example of politicians doing what they want and then telling the taxpayers you’re on the hook for it whether you like it or not !

She is one of the worst Mayors in Boston History. Resign already

This is all nice that she toots her horn, but I will have you know that these museums are already free if you have a DTA card, student rates…senior rates. Also, all museums are free on the first Friday night of the month. This is a NOTHING. Meanwhile, the shootings in Dorchester are almost everyday. Can the major address how she is going to handle this?

Who knew? If you spend the budget on programs for illegal immigrants, tha were not in the budget, you run out of money. Of course, taxes will have to pay for it ultimately. Now it's a matter of who do we target with the taxes.

Increasing property tax is the worst possible option. Property tax should be abolished. Too many smart people in this country for property tax to still be a thing and for people to keep propeety tax as the revenue raising method for funds to maintain state infrastructure, state goverment and state services. Think of some other revenue raising methods that dont hurt and burden the residents of the state.

I miss the old time Mayors.

I'm against tax payers of Boston paying anything for the White Stadium renovation for a pro soccer team. Mayor Wu just lost her property tax bill in the state senate which is going to raise property taxes by around 10%. Now she's asking Boston's citizen's to foot a $50 million plus dollars to build a new stadium in Franklin Park. There's going to be cost overruns and I'm not happy about using funds that are needed to build housing and other things the city needs going to a soccer stadium. Cites should be footing the bill or giving tax breaks to sports teams for stadiums. Let them pay for it. Then there is the issue of parking. Where are all those cars going to go on those neighborhood roads near Franklin Park? With all due respect to the Mayor she's just spinning and BS'ing on the stadium. I voted for Mayor Wu, but I won't if she seeks reelection. That she said Boston is going pay whatever the cost over runs are for this stadium is tells me she's not what we need as a mayor. What happens if the tax payers are on the hook for $100 million or more for this stadium? What's she going to do raise the property taxes another 5, 10 to 20%? This deal stinks and the citizens of Boston need to start paying attention to what Mayor Wu is doing with this project. I didn't vote for this.

Hopefully she will change her mind and stay home a take care of her kids . The city would be better off without her anyway .
@mrdog662 күн бұрын
@@Kevin-vm5wn That's not going to happen, and who runs the city? The problem with Boston and Massachusetts is voters are not engaged. Wu won the election with a majority of a minority of voters. More voters stayed home than voted by pretty large margins. For the City Council it's even more pathetic. Less than 30% of voters voted in City Council races. For elections of the state Legislators there are also low turnouts and in most elections the incumbents don't even have anyone running against them. The Democratic Party runs the state and it's pretty much run by the Speaker of the House and Senate Leader. Not the governor. The same can be said in red states where Republicans are the dominant party and they do whatever they want no matter how draconian. A healthy democracy needs a balance of power and that means states should be more or less purple. I doubt that Wu is even going to be challenged by an opponent in the next election. Which I think will mean less people will vote. It's death spiral for government meaning the city ends up with more incompetent people running the city. Which White Stadium is a good example of.

Nah. They all had D behind their name in the ballot. They are the party of love inclusion diversity honesty bullshitery. No chance they are corrupted and just waving the flag of democracy to trick zombies who vote for the letter after the name and don't know the policies.

why in God’s name would you have a professional soccer team play in the middle of a residential neighborhood??? The traffic over there is already ridiculous. It makes no sense. we also dont have many SAFE public spaces in the city. We deserve much better leadership!

We could have a green mayor and they could be useless. Change doesn't always make things better. There needs to be a fair playing field for everyone but the majority of people's opinions on her is she's trash.
