So, before i did any of these, i did watch a few videos of how people did it, and did hear the problem of air bubbles. What ive found to work, is a good light behind the mold as you hold it and watch it pour in. You can see where the air bubbles are and can push them out as you go. Ive done 5 of these kits now, those daggers being the first kit i did..and they have come out pretty great, with very little flaws to none. Then with pulling out the swords like the dual ones. I made sure to pull around the mold away from the sword, hold the bottom and slowly pull it out.

For resin you can put the bottle in warm water (15 to 30min) then dry the bottle (water is bad for resin) to help make it flow much easier and also can use a lighter torch to help pop bubbles. This from experience of using resin. Hope it helps with future projects.

So I did this on my own, following the instructions. I regret it. I got the Morgal Knife, and it was the biggest pain in my butt to fill that mold. I couldn’t even do it right because of all the bubbles, so here I am trying to fix everything. I even just cut the mold so I could get to the bottom, since the tip refused to leave (ironic). I’m happy to watch you succeed ❤

You can always try coloring the resin first, then do the daggers.

Not sure if you know but nail polish remover with acetone in it will strip acrylic paint back ;) You COULD always paint it silver first then water down some black and let the paint creep into the scratches and wipe the excess off :)

As a painter for film and tv i can give you any tips if you need painting help! But i would suggest the molotow liquid chrome (you can get in pen form or just use the refill ink and brush it on) great for anything metal looking! it takes a while to dry so be careful but you can then add aging over the top! Also i used to do moulding and casting, so always start with the lowest point of a mould and fill from the same point to avoid air bubbles. If you filled from the handing and kept filling from there you would have less chance of air bubbles! Moving about traps the air!

A little tip that might help with this kind of resin kit that has worked for me. When taking out the weapon you can gently pull the mold from the sides in order to get it to unstick from the weapon and that should help it make it easier to pull out. When is a bubble I have found it easier to push lightly below the bubble and push it towards the surface in order to get it out.

15:08 Lol! Something similar happened to me when I was making the Morgul Knife. There was an air bubble by the tip, so when I pulled the sword out, a piece of the tip was stuck inside. I spent 6 minutes trying to shake and squeeze it out, only to get frustrated end up cutting the mold to pinch it out with a pair of tweezers... Only to figure out I could have just added a little bit more resin into the mold, stick the sword back in, and let it cure to fix. XD

@rainbowise14 сағат бұрын
Thanks for sharing! Not sure if anyone mentioned this but if you put alcohol in the mold first it will cut down on bubbles.... but then you cant put the dust inside. (which I DONT recommend as the dust is sure to stop the resin from getting to the tip) Best to dust it on after its been cured and seal it, or mix it into the resin. Also using alcohol on a toothpick helps bubble popping :D

You started out great at the beginning unwrapping, revealing, and making what's in the mini verse balls, now you have really leveled up great as being a crafter... Don't worry about your hands and workstation to much because getting a little or a lot, messy is what happens as a crafter... All us crafters know what comes with crafter pretty well, lol... Like you been doing, just clean up a bit in between each project you're doing... You really are doing great... Until the next time, ... Take care...

If you still want some sparks, try using some resin on a plastic sheet. Drop some red and gold glitter flakes and position them with a toothpick, harden the resin and cut out the sparks you like. You can place them with some more clear resin. Takes some practice, but looks nice.

hi! i am an artist and cosplayer nd actually did paint some metallic props! Usually you can find some metallic paint in craft stores for not much, it's very pretty and does a really good job for making it a bit shiny. Usually, when i paint weapons, i put a base coat of black, like you did, then use a technique called dry brushing where you take just a bit of metallic paint on your brush, remove the exedent amd brush it on the black coated weapon with quick movements! It's such a good way to make your weapons look like metal and it looks way better than if it was simply painted metallic or gray! Your weapon do looks really great tho, you did an awesome job!!

On those smaller swords, with the gold handles, use the ridges on the mold to pull the mold away from the resin before demolding it. Will keep them from breaking when pulling them out.

The reason why you kept getting bubbles in the handle on the second set was because you kept putting the handles in and then taking them out to wipe them off, removing the needed resin.

Other people had some advice about the resin, but I may have a solution for the one that gave you the most trouble. It would have maybe been to your benefit to cut the mold on the side. It may make resin come out the side, but that can probably be cut or sanded off and the rest should still look good I think.

What i learn about this. •Dont put the glitter stuff. It makes it worse. •The mica in the resin makes it hard to solidify. The clear parts harden faster •The axes can slump while curing. So look if you need to add acrylic. • If you sand it with a 1500 water sand paper. It keeps it's form better. • i painted mine with acrylic paint and it bonded well and looks more metallic. And what i expect from the wave 2 They need to improve the connection handle with the acrilic. It's too small to have a nice grip of the acrylic. I lost many swords because the handled couldn't grab it well .

U can just mix the powder and res in a small batch to paint on and then UV to cover the clear patches, and also fill in voids and such. Resin mainly bonds the best to itself so patching after the initial molding is A-ok.... And if you get a bad mold, trim the handle back out with some mini model type or nail grooming scissors and just redo it.... Even maybe just put the powder and clear in a spare bottle and.mix in the bottle by shaking, then inject the mold.

@marcosdheleno2 ай бұрын
dont worry, people dont care about this, until a few years later when their doctors tell them the reason they will need a respirator of some kind is because those particles they inhaled do not come out of the lungs once they get in. as we say over here in Brazil, people only learn after they get their teeth kicked in. and yeah, this is very heavy handed, but when it comes to safety precautions, you either go balls deep, or they dont learn until its too late...
