I have since learned,after my previous comment, that this style of literature-explaining the inner thought processes and motivations of Biblical characters is centuries old. Pretty neat implementation of this strategy, allowing us to understand a little of this character.

I can only find him in Acts and mentioned in a letter from Paul but the little bit there is makes him seem strong in script and able to speak with confidence in his word. He hung out with John the Baptist prior to his mention in Acts and John's approach was different than that if Jesus whereas he was very loud and aggressive towards his audience as the region he spoke the word in was of people of different character than those where Jesus circulated. Since he was grown in the word with Jesus cousin John who baptized Jesus and needed to be fit before God to prepare the baptism... It stands to reason that Apollos was a man of upright character and it is a safe bet he was not a false prophet
