I do not agree with the kind of protest that disrupts the actual viweing of the film, or threatens venues into cancelling showings of material the protestors dont agree with. Protest peacefully, freedom to protest is important, make a film, write a book, articles with your own version, come onto news or current affairs programmes and express where you believe the film deviated from facts. Discuss it, refute it, point out where you think ot is wrong, no problem with that, but the threatening disruption is not an appropriate way to behave.

The word "islamophobia" was conjured up by the Muslim Brotherhood, who are obviously interested in the protection of their fellow worshippers. I just watched the movie and couldn't stop mentioning some points as they were ridiculously hillarious :- - They showed Malyalis speaking in Hindi with each other in Kerela, that too in Malyalam accent, inspite of knowing Malyalam, which was so funny to watch. The director is ill informed, oblivious and amateur af. - Every 5 mins the friends mention about religion as if they're wearing them on their identities, which is not at all true. If anyone knows a Malyali personally, they'd know why they're called educated cause they keep logic over religion always. Director thought its UP. - In a scene, 3 girls were publicly attacked by 2 hindi speaking guys, they spanked them, tore everybodies clothes one by one and all malyali crowds were standing and watching them helplessly. Uneducated director probably thought Kerela to be Delhi, cause if that happened in Kerela, the public would beat the shit out of the eve teasers, unlike the north indian crowd. - They showed 2 muslims burning a girl's father's house who was himself a communist. And the father was crying in the corner. 😄Does the director even know what it is to be a communist in Kerela? If that remotely happened, those guys would have been annihilated by the CPI(M) party by now. Does the director think its UP or Gujrat where the community itself betrays you and nobody stands for you? The director has zero knowledge about Kerela, not its essence or vibe, and and the script mostly looked like those I've overheard in whatsapp propaganda forwards. I doubt he has ever stayed in Kerela. Rather than focussing on the point, his usage of onscreen rape portrayal multiple times with no relevance other than emotionally agitating a whole crowd, was beyond disgusting. Pathetically directed with no knowledge of the demography whatsoever with an intention to deliberately agitate the crowd, by maligning an entire community and a state of his very own nation. He should be behind bars for such acts. In a nutshell, the movie is pure propaganda BULLSH*T 💩

Just thought I'd mention that most Indian people from Kerala (& I have some good friends from that part of the world) actually pronounce it KErala (with a short, stressed "e" sound). While I support the right of people to protest about things, I do not believe that anyone has the right to disrupt a person's enjoyment of a film they have paid to see - whether that film happens to be historically accurate or not, or whether it's just a dramatisation of real events. I should also say that I have read in the international news on several occasions in the past, of young girls of other religions in effect being forced into marriages (after sometimes being kidnapped) with Muslim boys/men, then eventually "converting" to Islam, supposedly voluntarily. And there have been court cases in India about these kinds of things which have happened - & not just in the state of Kerala. In 1 or 2 cases that I heard about, the girls were eventually returned to their families, after the court ordered it. Just because some people may not agree with the teachings of Islam, & may disapprove of the practices of Muslim people, does not make them "Islamaphobic". Genuine Islamaphobia only occurs where people have no real identifiable & logical reason for disliking the religion of Islam. And just because one may dislike Islam & its teachings, does not mean that one also dislikes specific Muslim people. The term "phobia" implies having a truly unfounded fear of something - & therefore in most cases, the term "Islamaphobia" is being used by people who really do not understand its correct meaning. Most people's concerns about the religion of Islam are indeed well-founded, from its own actual teachings in the Quran & hadiths, & the actions of many of its followers. Therefore "Islamaphobia" is really not the correct the correct word to use & perhaps just calling people "anti-Islam" would be a better term - because it more accurately reflects that people do not agree with the teachings of Islam in the Quran & hadiths.

If the courts are involved, then the police and authorities would also be involved, which means that the girls can just leave at any point, and on their own accord. Why does there need to be a trial if they’re being held forcefully?! All the girls would need to say is that they’ve been kidnapped and they want to leave. At that point the girls would be free to go back to wherever they’ve apparently been kidnapped from, and there would be charges bought against the so called kidnappers. There wouldn’t need to be a trial and court hearings to leave their “kidnappers”, the girls could just get up and leave. Unless of course, if the girls had left on their own accord to be with their partner, and were being forced by their parents through the courts to leave their partner/ husband that they’d left with and return back to the parents. This would be purely because of the fact that the parents of the girls couldn’t digest the idea of their daughters wanting to marry a Muslim. It is considered a matter of honour for the parents, and the courts in India fully support this notion. After dissecting what you’ve said, we’re able to establish pretty quickly that it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever, and is in fact a lie. Moreover, just because you claim that you have some Indian friends, does that automatically make you an expert on the current affairs of India?! I’ve got Indian friends too, but the difference is that I don’t just blindly believe anything that is told to me by them, or anyone else for that matter. Instead, I actually look further into it myself, so that I am able to see the other side of the argument. This way one is able to establish a far more impartial and unbiased opinion, which as a result is far more informed and closer to the actual truth. What you’ve said about the girls being kidnapped makes no sense at all for the reasons that I’ve already mentioned. So it’s plain and obvious for anyone to see that you haven’t taken the necessary steps in establishing an account that is in line with the actual truth. Unfortunately, you’ve adopted the biased opinion of your Indian friends and have decided to just run with it. If a movie incites hatred to the point where innocent people are being publicly lynched, then isn’t it our moral duty to prevent such a movie from being aired? Especially when the movie claims to be based on truth when it actually isn’t. After considerable pressure from the public, to bring forward some proof in support of claims, the directors eventually admitted that the movie isn’t based on truth. So in reality, by giving rubbish like this airtime, we’re encouraging the lynching of innocent people by deliberately misguiding mobs of thugs that are out for blood. Sometimes people find themselves in a relationship where one party has so much power over them that they gradually accept their situation and convince themselves that they love it. They might feel 'kidnapped' but are powerless to leave, for both physical and emotional reasons, and this is even more complicated in an honour-based culture where females have less independence. Of course genuine inter-faith relationships also occur in India, where each party retains their own faith. I think this is wonderful but I would prefer it for the children of that relationship to also be free to choose which faith to follow. As for banning a movie, you'd have to have more proof that it *actually incites violence* before removing it from the public arena, otherwise we'd be banning heaps of things just because they make some people hostile. A hostile person who harms another is accountable for their own actions and is subject to criminal laws. Free speech is vital for social change and innovation.
