One of my closest friends who went onto benefits 2 years ago after they split up with their partner, is on her 2nd holiday of the year and another booked in for later in the year. UC more than my part time salary, child support and all housing paid for by the council (new build). She’s living the high life! There’s nothing wrong with her, she just doesn’t want to work as she doesn’t believe she should miss out on time with her two young children before they start school. I’m working to pay for this, hard to understand why I bother really because both my husband and I work and we can’t afford a single holiday this year. Councils waste 100s of thousands in front of our noses we get nothing for council tax at all , police not on the streets , police station S closing , I have no street lights were I live , they are now going to start charging for green waste . I was self employed for 7 years and you get nothing, no benefits, holidays, etc. If you don't work you don't get paid. A lot of public sector jobs are a waste of time as well, just money down the drain.
