Gaudencio Boniceli Thank you very much for the detailed instruction in making a Cargo Net. I want to make a small, but strong one, to increase the size of my not big-enough backpack. There are a few videos on KZbin that show this knot, however they do not explain what you have both explained and shown to make a complete Cargo Net.

Thanks for this video! I’m going to tie a miniature one out of sisal twine for our pet rats. I’ve been wanting one for them for a while now, but they’re easily $20! I picked the twine up for $2, though, and your video was free. Definitely a way better deal. I really appreciate it, and I really really appreciate that your video was concise and to the point without a long rambling intro!

Thank you for watching my video- GBon - How To Make Cargo Net. To fasten / secure the rope at the top and bottom of the wood frame, is by wrapping a rope on the top at least two round turn, and secure with Fishermans Bend/Barrel Knot, or figure of Eight Follow Thru. The same thing to do with the bottom portion of the wiood frame.

such a nice, easy to understand and informative video. but can you tell me how to calculate the total length of rope like 6 feet by 5 feet net.
@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 7 жыл бұрын
Kashif, I cannot tell you any formula for calculation of the total length of rope. but If you are going to make a Cargo Net of 6 feet by 5 feet, you might need to add 3 feet for vertical rope and 3 feet for the horizontal rope, because you have to consider the length of rope needed in every knots. Try to use small ropes with different color for vertical and horizontal for practice. At least you are not wasting your good rope in case you already cut the rope intended for practice, because you need ample allowance to secure the upper ends of the vertical ropes and of the horizontal ropes on left anchor points. Once you mastered the knot tying it will be easy for you to make an appropriate length of necessary ropes. Regards
@rodrod9353
@rodrod9353 6 жыл бұрын
I would say you need to find out how much length of rope would be consumed to make each individual knot because that number is dependent upon the size of rope needed to make a cargo net. Small diameter ropes take less length to make a knot while larger ropes require more If you want a net that is 6 feet wide you would need a length of rope 6feet added the number of knots multiplied by the length of rope needed to make each knot.
@gaudencioboniceli1263

Try to make a cargo net having a mesh of 12 inch by 12 inch of each box/mesh. Lets say ou make a 5box/mesh by five box/mesh. Then mark the last outer end of the box. Then undo the cargo net nd measure the total lenght of rope from top to the marked rope

@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 4 жыл бұрын
After you finished the desired size of cargo net, Make a Figure of Eight at the end of each rope for the carabiner attachment. You can use also the Bungee Rope or Elastic/Stretchable Rope for Topload Cargo Net.
@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 4 жыл бұрын
You can use Bowline knot, but if you are going to use carabiner for quick attachment of cargo net, I would suggest to secure your carabiner with Scaffold Hitch or Bull Hitch, so that your carabiner wont separate from your cargo net.

@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 7 жыл бұрын
The best option to connect the endsof the rope is by connecting with the Double Fisherman's Bend. Although it does not look very nice, but it is the knot that I can guarantee strong enough to carry heavy loads. there lots of videos in You Tube how to tie fisherman's bend. Thank You.

@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 6 жыл бұрын
Pamela Farmer I recommend Manila Rope because it is designed for indoor and outdoor, Twisted type, the size should be1/2" or 1" diameter, the larger rope the better. for the kids climbing net you can use # 1/2" diameter. use Green for horizontal lines and red for vertical lines or ask your kids prefered color for the rope.

@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 6 жыл бұрын
Brian Prasun Thank you for watching this video. For safety reason, you can make smaller mesh/hole of the cargo net. it is better if you used two different color of ropes, to emphasize the vertical lines and horizontal lines of ropes. it attracts kids and builds their confidenceĺ, builds up muscles ang perseverance to reach the bell on top of the cargo net.

@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 6 жыл бұрын
To terminate the end of the rope, or how to fasten the rope onto the frame you can use two round turn and secure the rope with barrel knot/double overhand knot which is more reliable and it adds good design on the climbing net.
@gaudencioboniceli1263
@gaudencioboniceli1263 4 жыл бұрын
I prefer to use double wrap around on a wood/steel frame and secure withe double overhand knot or Barrel knot. You can use also the Figure of Eight follow thru.

Thank you for watching my video, The figure of the knot speaks itself. there are different name attached to this knot, some they call it Box Knot, Crown Knot, Square Knot, I would say this suits to the so called Cargo Knot. Because you do not need device or tools to make this Knot, unlike other climbing net/Cargo net other guys used device for connecting Vertical ropes and Horizontal ropes.
