A small rant / opinion video on Katalina in Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising. Note that everything said in this video, is opinionated and not to be taken super seriously. Though I do hope Katalina gets buffed in the future.

This is really good video explaining Kat's situation. Honestly I think a lot of it extends to a few other characters as well. I main Metera and she has a really solid kit but it feels like it's a kit made for gbvs and not Rising, so a lot of characters do her job better even as non-zoners.

She's one of my favorites in the RPGs mode she's my favorite alley actually carries her weight and helps out on missons still stuck on the dragon but never gets to the point where it's not fun 😂😂 most definitely one of the best games I picked up this year may give the new one a shot going into next year 😊😊

I've kinda had the same experience with Zooey. She kinda has a similar play style to Kat in spacing out the enemy and punishing, along with Oki. But in Rising Oki has been gutted and like Katalina, the spacing play style just isn't it anymore.

They also need to extend the hitbox of her Raging Strike a bit. She can't even get near-tip-range f.M and f.H into RS, which can be done with Zeta, Siegfried and Narmaya.

As a fellow Katalina main, I definitely found pre-patch Katalina really frustrating to play, but as I kept playing, I started to better see her strengths, especially compared to actual bottom tier characters. She actually functions in 66L meta, both having tools to beat 66L and utilize 66L decently enough, unlike pre-patch Metera or Anila. It's definitely worse than if 66L didn't exist, but not by much, and I think she had surprisingly decent matchups versus top tiers like Nier and Siegfried because her neutral control was still that relevant. I think you severely underestimate the power of her 214X series. All three normal versions I use all the time both in neutral and in combos and it swings a lot of matchups against characters that don't have a higher priority rush move. She could've still been bottom 10 but not by a lot. More than being weak, I think she was just really boring and lacked the flair that a lot of other characters had, which you pointed out well. Now that she got buffed, even though there weren't many, she's in a much better place now. I hope you're giving Katalina another chance! I recommend trying for a more aggressive style, if you're too hung up on trying to walk back and whiff punish. Fireball, thrust, and 2M can dissuade 66L enough to open plenty of 66L opportunities of your own.

I've been grinding Eustace since launch as I've always wanted to play him in VS but couldn't bear fighting higher level player with bad net code. Before Eustace though I was playing Katalina at the first game release and always loved her even though I wasn't playing much against other player at the time. My next character once I've reach lvl500 though will be Katalina

Even a character like my main Lowain with 214U gets a ground bounce to enable followups. When I played Katalina for a video it really sucked that she just isn’t that good. Also found it slightly annoying she can’t combo a max range f.L into 214L. But 214H works off max range f.L.

Here's to hoping that Katalina gets more buffs. The stuff she got is good, but it feels like she needs more... (Either way i refuse to drop her, as I've always played her subce day one of base Versus)
