You gave a great insight to that Paul was quite knowledgeable in the tactics of Roman warfare and likened that to the way we should defend yourself against every day evil. There was a time when I thought it best to just punch them in the teeth. I like Gods way better!

Shalom Dr. Randal, your references to the Gaul who became a Roman Praetorian guard makes a big difference in how one approaches the understanding of the text and it seems to fit in a way that I have not heard it explained before. Are there any resources you could share so that I could look into that more? I am not coming up with much in my searches and I really want to have some information that I can back up what you are teaching so I can refer to it as I am teaching the men in our kehila. Thank you!

Detached from the finished work of Christ...this teaching can be very burdensome.
@junnmariondelarama81782 жыл бұрын
It is not detached and burdensome brother, in verse 4 of chapter 1 in Ephesians we can see that God chose/elected us that we should be holy and blameless before Him. Of course we are to walk holy and blameless not to attain salvation which Christ has already done but because we are already saved and we are called to do it. Sanctification is a long long process until we are made perfect either when Christ returns in our time or we leave from our physical body. The finished work of Christ is to purchase our salvation which no one could do, the continuous work of the Holy Spirit is the sanctification of those that Christ had purchased until we come to perfection. God bless you brother.

If you’re going to preach about Paul and the Bible, and believe it, then there is no use to say CE and BCE! These are terms developed later to appease unbelievers! Believers can say with confidence BC and AD!
@ctspvideos3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to put in a comment. I really appreciate every viewer, and I am humbled at the way God has used these classroom teachings over the years. Because I have seen your comment before, I want to offer some perspective. In the US, believers commonly use the names of the "days of the week and months of the year," though their names were derived from pagan celebration and cultic memory. If we can casually say we worship Jesus on "Sunday," we are referring to a word rooted deeply in the worship of the sun. Should we name it something else to blot out the pagan influence? Will people know what we are saying? Terminology like BCE is not an attempt to appease anyone. Often I am speaking in an international setting with rooms filled with people not from a Christian background, and many use a different dating system. This is to make what I am saying clear, and signal that I understand I don't live in the world alone. Just as we would tell people to meet us on "Sunday" because it is common speech in that setting, I use nomenclature that shows broader understanding. Using the term "Sunday" doesn't mean I worship the sun, but I understand the context of the room in which I am speaking. I am sure you are trying to defend the Word and the Lord, and I applaud both sentiments. In a room full of non-Christian listeners, let's say, half a world from where you live, it may be more clear for me to use the "Before Common Era" dating to be precise and understood by them. I have no problem holding Jesus at the highest place in all things, dating included. This is only an attempt to be clear, nothing more.
