I commuted thru NYC every day - snow or heat - on an S Works Roubaix. Im an ex downhill rider. First thing I did to the Roubaix was Frankenstein the stem put flat riser bars on it so I can flick through lanes of taxis. This is basically that bike. Looks great. That stack to reach ratio is hard to find anywhere in the gravel market etc.

No need to upgrade the cassette, upgrade the NX to a GX though would be fire. Also, that seat tube bottle cage mount...it looks like it bottoms out against that transverse tube...I would love to see if you could actually mount a bottle cage and get a bottle in and out of that thing.

It's clear there's a disconnect between most commenters and people who sell bikes for a living. There is a whole market of people who don't want a conventional drop bar $4,000 road bike to commute on...not because of the price, but because of health, comfort, safety, etc, reasons they don't want a drop bar. This bike is the middle ground.

It's aimed at people who were looking at spending $3,000 on a road bike but decided against it because they can't, or don't, want to ride a drop bar. This still gives them a taste of that performance and higher end quality they craved in a flat bar package.

This seems like a bike for folks who want to ride their bike to a neighborhood lunch spot on a Saturday afternoon and probably not much else otherwise.

I have a trek fx bike which is more road oriented geometry, but I really like these sirrus x bikes , i tried the sirrus x 4.0, and it was a really comfortable bike that felt tossable.

That's actually probably a very good bike for most people. Especially the people worried about comfort who just go out on shot rides on bike paths and usually way over bike with a 30lb low end xc bike for comfort.

It is probably a bike for me, who had a very nice Tarmac once but now my body shape is more beach ball with legs. Who is now uncomfortable on a road bike and wants to get fit again and who still enjoys cycling. After having a good carbon bike, wants something with a good carbon frame. Put a nice set of carbon rims with 32mm tyres and you can probably join the group ride (not the one at light speed). Run the bigger tyres and go wherever. For some who can only have one bike, this offers options. Understand for the pure roadie at heart, this bike seems madness, but I want something that still makes cycling fun yet comfortable. @@iecrime

Looks great and love that reflective paint work. The weight is pretty high not gunna lie esp if you add on a backpack or storage bags to the fork to carry extra clothes/work stuff etc. Looks like they compromised weight for design aesthetics and seat comfort. Which makes sense to some riders who want their commuter bike to feel more comfy.

The hybrid fitness bikes are cool. I love this new frame. Very cool. I was at a trek dealer today and looked at the carbon Fx bikes and those are sweet as well, much cooler looking in person. I had a 2017 diverge comp carbon, and it was nice, but I like these flat bar bikes better.

It's not a Commuter f it doesn't have pannier and proper fender mounts. I see some threaded inserts, so no doubt specialized will offer some proprietary fenders and racks that will be inferior in every way to standard offerings. Thanks for the video. It is a cool design but the last thing I want on a workhorse is weirdness.

I think one of the only misses on this bike is no future shock 2.0 definitely should have that imo. Also if they put a swat box in there that would be awesome! I have a 2021 sirrus x 5.0 and it's awesome. Just need to lighten it up a little bit. It's about a pound lighter than the new one so there's a small win. And I never found it to be not a complaint bike, but I'm sure the new one will be more flexy.

Man these Flat bars ain’t no joke there comfortable af. There really under rated, they explode like a bmx when your doing a race and to be quite frank there safer than a road bike from my experience since I’ve ridden all types of bikes through my years for thousands of miles. That’s the best bike for shit and hard af side walks nearly everywhere in America I just hate the way thy are made of only they were smooth. I know how much they fk up the road bike tire and make the bikes bolts losen allitle because of the hard surfaces if your going fast never again 😂. We all learn eventually

@@GCPerformance18 Shocks are good for Hard places and side walks but not so good for racing on the street or eats up your power unless your on the saddle the whole time and riding it on a low gear then work your way up that’s the only way. Learned this the hard way long time ago when I couldn’t afford a bike and had to settle for 1

@@cup_and_conethe geometry of a frame with a shock is different because a shock isn't stiff carbon. Using a carbon frame as a leaf spring that is now exposed to shear and twisting forces is going to give up something somewhere. Maybe it won't break but there are more practical ways to get compliance in a bike.

The utility of this bike is very limited compared to the 2021 Sirrus 6.0 so it's hard to place it in the category of Fitness bike, which is what the Sirrus has always been. This 2023 Sirrus 5.0 model can be a regular city bike. I don't know why Specialized does this. Are buyers really that stupid? Take a look at the Merida Speeder 900, for example (for less money).

It feels like a BS design to me. The straight bar for commuting isnt great. Just give me a Dutch hybrid bike with a good ergonomic position for your back with normal handlebars. Great video though.
