*Some facts about Muay Chaiya* The Muay from the city of Chaiya mainly refers to a certain Ajarn Ket Sriyapai. Ket Sriyapai was the son of a governor who was active in sports promotion and brought Muay Veti fighters (Muay Thai) from Chaiya to Bangkok to promote them there. Ajarn Khet never learned Muay Thai himself. The only reason why he is called "Ajarn" is that he has written and published some (fictional) stories about Muay Thai fighters. Ajarn Ket came from a high-ranking family and therefore never fought in a boxing ring. That would have been inappropriate for his standing.
