This is so good. I'm here at home with my son and we are learning this together so I can means test him. It's brilliant how it's been clearly and concisely uncomplicatedly conveyed. We were able to pause the video and consolidate parts and now we know everything about the leaf structure. I will now get my son to do labelling of the anatomy of a leaf and also write and draw it. This is a keeper. Thank you very much to the author as he has helped my son in understanding this fully.

Palisade cells carry out photosynthesis. They have a large number of chloroplasts to do that. The chloroplasts are found mainly towards the top of the cell where there is more exposure to sunlight.

Is this video supposed to be in the organisation topic??? Wouldn’t something like this come in cell biology
@charliebrett75106 жыл бұрын
I know this may be a dumb question. I know that co2 diffuses into the stomata and 02 diffuses out. But what about in respiration? Does the oxygen diffuse from the stomata to the spongy mesophull to the palisade cells and co2 gets released from there. But that seems incorrect as the palisade cells are responsible for photosynthesis not respiration. Can someone help me?
@Freesciencelessons6 жыл бұрын
Palisade cells carry out both respiration and photosynthesis. During light conditions, the oxygen produced in photosynthesis can be used directly in respiration, with the excess oxygen being released through the stomata. In the dark, photosynthesis stops but respiration continues. This means that plants release carbon dioxide at night.
@charliebrett75106 жыл бұрын
Freesciencelessons Perfect explanation, just what I needed!
@charliebrett75106 жыл бұрын
Freesciencelessons I get co2 diffuses out the stomata during respiration but what about the water produced? Does that get stored somewhere in the palisade cells?
@Freesciencelessons6 жыл бұрын
Cells are already full of water and the amount of water produced in respiration is relatively small so it just enters the general body of water in the cell.
