Dynamic equilibrium: - closed system - rate of forward reaction = rate of backward reaction - concentrations of reactants and products stay constant

Well can you please explain me what it means by "Rate of forward and backward reactions are equal" and why this takes place. I would be very grateful if you reply.

@@zafrinzamanmithila6246 this is such a late reply but basically forward and backward reaction means that they occur at the same rate. So the reactions are both taking place in both directions. If a reversible reaction occurs in a closed system (closed system means that nothing can enter or leave) then the reversible reaction would reach a 'state of dynamic equilibrium'.

@@zafrinzamanmithila6246 I think it’s that the reactants are forming the products in the forwards reaction at exactly the same rate as the products are forming the reactants in the backwards reaction ( I know this comment is 2 years old it just helps me remember to comment)

If for both endo and exo, the same amount of energy is transferred, doeant tjat mean the reaction is neutral as no energy change occurs meaning that the reaction is at equilibrium???
@AryanaSreshthaReede
@AryanaSreshthaReede 5 жыл бұрын
At equilibrium, the energy is gained by one side of the reaction to give off the other side of the reaction, and energy is lost by the other side to give off that another side of the reaction, happening at an equal rate. Meaning energy is gained and released at an equal rate at equilibrium.

For the reaction where the reactants and products are in a sealed container, how can we heat and cool them at the same time in order for equilibrium to happen?
@abdulabuzukhar8518
@abdulabuzukhar8518 4 жыл бұрын
at 2:20 i think the reaction is exothermic because when we were heating it, were putting energy to the surrounding but endothermic is transferring energy from the surrounding
@Freesciencelessons
@Freesciencelessons 4 жыл бұрын
If you heat a reaction then you are transferring energy to that reaction. That could be activation energy or the reaction could be endothermic.
