Passchendaele is name well known in Canada - with no happy memories for those of ours that died there. Who said the worst thing is a battle lost right next to a battle won. Passchendaele was a muddy challenge bravely answered, but the human cost of it, of WWI in fact, was so enormous as to be almost beyond belief.

Weapons- their inherent defensive nature, trenches themselves eg barb wire, tactics being outdated leading to attrition warfare

The reason I’ve used pictures is to avoid just having text on the screen- otherwise it would just be a channel that reads out revision notes
