I reckon there will be assessments in the summer term that you will need to prepare for - this allows your teachers to give you their predicts grade. It won’t just be based on mock exams you’ve already done in school. Try and stay motivated and keep learning!

@@udokafintelmann6803 I don't believe this will be the way that they do it. The whole reason they are cancelling the real exams is due to the inequality between different schools. Having a mock exam to complete when we get back is basically the same as doing a real exam and due to the reason I just stated I don't think they will do this. I think they will do something similar to what they did last year with teacher predicted ect.

To me exams was supposed to be the deal the final goal but no that's gone too now were having to do mocks as our final assessment which will be counted as your final grade which isn't really good in my opinion it's like having your GCSE'S but even earlier with less support + the weak learning given online I'd rather do my GCSE'S sorry if that offends you.

@@StealthJockey yes I was! but not because I enjoy doing them or being extremely nervous in the exam hall because I don't it's one of the most stressful periods you will ever undergo in your life. The main reason I wanted exams to go ahead was because it would give me to time to revise and consolidate however at this rate mocks are being utilized for grades which doesn't help at all! not only have people been cheating in previous ones but the fact that we will be having them even earlier than our GCSE'S is just risky and unfair. We will be given less time to revise, more stress is being thrown at us, time is being spent off school, improper online revision given = overall CRUEL I wanted to go through a formal assessment so I would be judged fairly like previous years. I hope you understand where I'm coming from and of course everyone has different opinions

There are 40% more covid patients in hospital than at the peak of the first wave in early april, and cases are still rising so hospital admissions will continue rising at least 1-2 weeks if not more; meaning it is highly likely the death toll will surprass 100k by the end of this lockdown. I do agree this wasn't ideal, and many students will be depressed/demotivated at exam cancellations and online learning, but to be honest it's necessary. It's honestly the government's fault for delaying the November lockdown (which SHOULD have been in october), because tbh infection rates didn't fall that much after the lockdown (and went too high in late October) This meant that by mid-December, cases had already risen up to pre 2nd-lockdown levels, and cases are now probably as high/ even higher than they were in the spring. Don't worry though this defo is the last lockdown (given the government don't mess up vaccine roll outs as well), and I'm sure things will be nearly normal by June; no guarantees though obviously.

most likely it will be your work as a whole; i live in UAE studying under a british curriculum so i do IGCSE instead of GCSE, your mocks and every piece of works may affect your final gcse grade but you should most likely consult your teacher for questions

As a teacher, this will be a tough one if we're required to give predicted grades since the evidence we often use are mocks (PLRs) - now, looking at my year 11s mocks I know none of them tried their best cos they never thought exams would be cancelled despite my constant effort to make them think of the worst possible outcomes. Hopefully we can get a clearer understanding of what will be required of us. PS - great video.

I was isolating at the time of the December mocks in my school and we got the choice to either do them at home or at school a week later. I ended up choosing to do them at school but had to do 2 exams at home. I really can't see how they can base anything off the mocks because I know many people who cheated in their mocks at home. One of my friends spent 2 hours on her French listening exam. Furthermore, some of the exams were made up by the school and were not real past papers and therefore the grade boundaries can't be applied well and surely the grade boundaries would have gone down anyway since the 2018 exams due to the months of home learning causing lower marks on average. Also, whilst I avoided hearing about the exam questions on the mocks, many people got told the questions on the mocks because they did them a week later due to isolation. I really hope that there is only a small emphasis on the mocks as the results are likely to be skewed.

For the people that are worried about not achieving good grades in their mocks and thinking they will get bad predicted grades, please don’t! Based on my experience, I didn’t do well in my mocks last year but I continued to work hard on the work set online and got grades which were far off from my initial mock results. So don’t give up because you have plenty of time to prove to your teachers that you are capable of achieving good grades.

It must depend on the A Level but I did Maths, Physics and Chemistry and not a lot of it is GCSE content (but having the GCSE content to help put concepts in context is helpful). If you are SURE you have no exams and don’t need to do work to improve your grade then I’d recommend getting a head start if you feel confident with GCSE content.

the issue is for people like me, that needed to re-sit exam asap before turning 19 is something they need to put into considerations. Is unfair that for private candidates they need to spend more than £200-500 per course to re-sit it online.

Our school gave us an unofficial igcse math mock (unofficial being that the teachers chose the questions) so we ended up having 2 a level questions in it as well as other hard question resulting in our entire year group not getting higher than 85 percent. So yeah, that left me with 3 marks less than a 7 so now i cant do math a level :(

personally i am happy that they have been cancelled, this past year has kicked me to the curb mentally and i have had no motivation for any school work of any kind. if GCSE’s were to go ahead i know that i would perform awfully so i’m just glad that i did a lot better in my past 2 years of GCSE’s (i started in year 9). i also generally hate testing as my coursework has always been far better than my test results, the exams system does not work for everyone, it is entirely and truly flawed.

How do you think grades will work for the schools that haven't done mocks yet?

Even though i understand what the government are doing, I think it’s really unfair to us what they are doing. We are working so hard to revise and prepare and then in just a blink on an eye they get cancelled. By the way I love your channel Udoka! Keep up the great work! :)

When did this announcement come out? Because in online school today, the teachers told us that the exams are still going ahead and cancellations were just a rumour.
