I lived in Japan for 5 years in this girls home town Kumamoto and met many a fun loving girl just like her...they are perhaps the most memorable times of my life and by the why don't be fooled by the cute image, Japanese girls can be very ruthless and cunning but also 20 times more fun than a lot of stuck up Western girls. Man, the level of musicianship is top notch here and no wonder Japanese people fucking practice to perfection....

I think more than being a gimmick, Miku during this time is giving a small glimpse into Japanese culture and gives a little insight into what maid cafes are like in addition to giving the rest of the band a break. Their name is also Band-Maid so it’s expected to have some sort of maid theme, and they still mostly perform in Japan where it is more commonplace. I personally think it’s fun, and like she wanted to show when originally forming the band, this helps contrast the way they dress and act from the hard rock they play. I do think majority of people do enjoy and have fun with it. I don’t think this short amount of time in their 2+ hour setlist will affect whether they make it big or not.

I don't understand the hate with "Omajinai Time", for me it's a refreshing way to entertain people in the BAND-MAID concept. Remember that this band is modeled after Maid Cafés in Japan, so obviously it's going to have some thing related to it. I'm glad that they, specially Miku, are confident of that, there's no other band that offers such type of things, so that's what make them unique and, thinking about it, this really break the molds from the standard rock bands , not only having good music, but having a concept and show it to the world, that's rock n' roll. And, man, it's just a couple of minutes of silly fun, when I'll go to one of their concerts, I'll shout out loud "kuruppo" proudly!

She spoke predominantly Engish during Magic time as did Kanami (birthday girl) and Akane who told us she was half human and not half gorilla. A reference to her style on the drums. The newest song The Dragon Cries produced by Tony Visconti is entirely in English. And it is very good. A different stye for them as well. Almost blues.

I loved that night, thanks for capturing this bit of it - I think that the level of interaction was a step up from last year's gig at Islington O2 (this year Miku picked up on everyone's chant of "Misa, Misa" earlier on as well) … may be wrong but I think that there was a little more English in Miku's bit this year as well, but that could just be my hazy memory. Miku is definitely an wonderful overdose of cuteness that really adds to their gigs, but each of the girls are great in their own ways.
