This video is a quick tutorial on how I installed GE Z wave switches in a 4 way circuit to power lights in my basement. In a 4 way circuit there are 3 switches (sounds confusing I know). For this install you need 1 GE Z wave switch or dimmer, and 2 add-on switches.
My situation was a little unique compared to other wiring diagrams I found posted online so I wanted to share in case this could help somebody. In my setup power starts at Box 1 and travels to Box 2 where the line for the light is. From Box 2 to Box 3 there is just one cable (black, white, red, ground), that connects to the switch and nothing else. The typical wiring setup I found had power traveling from Box 1 to Box 2 to Box 3, then to the light. In my setup, the switch in box 3 does not need the black wire at all, just the red travel list. So I simply capped the black wire between Box 2 and Box 3.
I am not an electrician, just a home DIYer. MAKE SURE you turn off the power before installing any switches.
