I have the same washer, and it does the same thing. It is garbage, especially when trying to wash blankets or towels. GE sucks!!!

Our unit was serviced 3x with no change with the spin imbalanced issue on diff loads. We tried the wash cycle on diff loads w/ manual interventions to balance the clothes. Over time, it gets old & frustrating not to mention ** getting reminded what a pos it is on a weekly basis** My own work around was positioning (h depot) pipe foam insulation snug around the inside top cylinder area with the top door open so it wouldn’t have “free play” during the spin cycle. You can’t even see the foam but and it prevents the cylinder from bouncing around. It’s been over a year with no imbalance issues.

We have an older one that does the same. We were outside after putting a load in, I came inside after while and heard loud banging from the washer, I got upstairs and the washer had moved from where it was, stretching the power cord and the drain hose was out of the drain holder on the final spin. Since then I’ve figured out why, clothes have to be of similar weights, one side of tub can’t be heavier than the other. Ours does a sense feature but still unbalances, but it doesn’t if… I baby sit the fucking thing. So ours will get unbalanced after the first drain after the wash cycle, so I pause it and rearrange anything because the fucking washers sense cycle is all for show, so I rearrange, after that I don’t need to rearrange until the final drain before spin cycle, then it works properly. We cannot run our washer unattended. So now I’ve timed it, I run upstairs hearing the first drain at 50 mins remaining, ( heavy duty double rinse cycle), I pause and rebalance, then at 20 mins a final wash cycle drains, I pause and rearrange before final spin and it works fine. It only unbalances after draining from the wash cycle, in the heavy duty double rinse cycle, it does 2 washes. Never in my life have I had to baby sit a fucking washing machine. If I do a normal cycle I only need to rebalance once after the wash cycle, it stays balanced all the way to final spin.

GE sucks when washing bulky items but Samsung is better with weight sensing to ensure it washes long enough

That last year is kind of been doing it rattle rattle rattle, so and then at the stand it goes like this boom boom boom so bang like crazy

I have one very similar to this. It drives me crazy. Does this on most loads. Service man said it wasn't built to do small loads. Well it does it on larger loads too. Doing sheets, blankets and comforters is a joke. I replaced an over 30 years old Kenmore with this. I'm afraid the washer will move so much it will hit the gas line.

GE top load washers, or any top load washer to be honest, will do this for sheets and comforters, comforters are extremely heavy with water so you should be using the bulky or towels/sheets cycle to best help with this. With sheets and comforters, they get pretty heavy when drenched in water, and when a lot of weight is on one side of the washer, and not a lot on the other side of the washer, it'll get unbalanced. On most unbalanced loads, GE powers through it, but in exchange it'll be a lot louder. The washer knows when to stop. Most top loaders except speed queen uses suspensions that hang, which isn't good for these type of situations.
