My trekking poles were in need of a bit of repair after many miles. It was a cheap and simple fix.

I think if you use a large crescent wrench it's easy to take the flextip off. Open the wrench to the size of the shaft then slide and hit the top of the flextip. No need to use hot water or dremel tool to cut open.
